Padlet was something that I learned to manipulate on my own. I had never used or heard of it before, but I learned how to navigate it on my own. Technology is always growing and we adapt to learning new software by using other software.

I have also learned overtime that when there is a nearby hurricane, there will soon be a tropical storm. If there is a hurricane in the Gulf, 9 times out of 10 we will be receiving storms or just rain soon after.

I work for a family business. We do lawn care and have recently had a huge outbreak of army worms. I have heard of these worms for years, but I wanted to know where they derived from initially & what causes the outbreak. I did some research and found out they go through a life cycle similar to butterflies and turn into moths. They can eat your entire healthy lawn within two days. The treatment that we provide is very successful.

With COVID-19 being the main topic over the past year, I wanted to learn more about the Ivermectin horse paste. I have personally not taken any doses of the paste myself. I have witnessed people thrive after the treatment and others that did not. When I go to research the topic, I'm disappointed at the findings because a lot of the prior information has been removed or unavailable for view.

Working for a family business, we often find ourselves collaborating together to think of the best outcomes to increase profit. We will sit down together and come up with ideas that seem suitable to not only increase clientele and profit, but still please current customers. My dad will often have an idea and by collaborating together, I can add to his proposal and make it into something even better.

I often enjoy being able to read others discussions before submitting my own because I like to get an idea or know for sure I'm doing the right thing. I tend to overthink or not know what I should post. Getting an idea or knowing that I'm on the right track when viewing a discussion really helps me out. I don't steal ideas from others post's, so it would be nice to be able to collaborate or view others discussions to make sure I'm on track.

Authentic learning is the best way that I learn. I'm a very hands on person and personal experiences. When learning how to drive to get my license, I didn't personally learn anything from the test. I had to get behind the wheel and drive to learn. Most things were common sense, but a lot of it was also driving myself. Driver's Ed taught me a lot as we went over power points in the class, but a lot of it was hands on training by actually driving a car. I was thankful that my school provided me with that kind of experience.

As far as authentic learning goes, my school didn't teach me about credit scores, interest rates, or any real life situations for adulthood. I strongly believe that every person should have a course over these topics. If it wasn't for my family, I wouldn't have know the first step of buying my own car or how to maintain a good credit score. Some people don't have their family as an option, so they end up in crippling debt.

Intentional (Goal-directed/ Regulatory)

Since recently joining my family business, I have realized how outdated they are. I'm the youngest in the company when it comes to the paperwork or technology side of things. I instantly wanted to find a way to increase production by cutting back time. I researched a lot of different software, talked to many companies, and wanted something more simple for everyone. The software that they are using is from 2006 and should be updated. I took the initiative within myself to research on more updated software.

I intentionally set goals for myself everyday. I'm terrible at time management and strive to better myself in that department everyday. I buy a planner, make dates, alarms, appointments, whatever I have to do to become that better person for myself. I want to achieve my goals and get my assignments in on time. Sometimes I fail and feel down on myself for it, but majority of the time it helps me more than anything. I'm always responsible for my own actions and assignments.
