"At that time, they were teaching that there was absolutely no difference between anybody. They may be teaching that still" (pg 8). I chose this quote because I agree with it so strongly and because I love the way Vonnegut uses such a light hand to establish his how absurd he finds that idea.

"...the ones who hated war the most, were the ones who'd really fought." Pg 11
This makes a great point about the war. Movies glorified wars and many people didn't experience the harshness of it. Here, Vonnegut explains that those who were against it actually experienced the worst and knew what it was actually like. This gave them different outlooks on things.

"You'll pretend you were men instead of babies, and you'll be played by Frank Sinatra and John Wayne or some of those other glamorous, war-loving, dirty old men. And war will look just wonderful, so we'll have a lot more of them" (page 14). I chose this quote because I completely agree with it, in movies and media war is glorified and some people treat it like it's something to be proud of and it's just sad.

"Sooner or later I go to bed, and my wife asks me what time it is. She always has to know the time. Sometimes I don't know and I say 'Search me'" (Vonnegut 7). I chose this quote because it symbolizes the need for veterans like Vonnegut to escape the binds of the social construct of time, war, and the stresses of everyday life after experiencing traumatic events that occur so frequently and insignificantly in war.

This leads young men to have a skewed view of what war truly is.
