This product undergoes a chemical change which means that it has different chemical and physical properties for the reactants. To show this process we use a chemical equation, where the reactants are to the left side of the arrow joined by a + sign and the products are on the right side.
As the chemical change occurs, bonds break and new ones form; however, the atoms are conserved not gained, lost or changed. When writting a chemical equation, there should be the same number of atoms for each of the elements both on the reactants and product sides. To do so, we add coefficents infront of the formula that multiply with the subscript to balance the equation; however, make sure you do not change anything in the subscripts.
