Three functions of the muscular system are they are needed to breath, needed to pump blood, and they are needed to protect internal organs. There are more than 600 muscles in the human body. Three types of muscles are cardiac muscles, smooth muscles, and skeletal muscles. Cardiac muscles make up your heart. Smooth muscles are in your organs. Skeletal muscles move your bones. Voluntary muscles are muscles you can control. Involuntary muscles are muscles you can't control. One thing I learned from doing the muscle fatigue activities is that I wouldn't live for long if my heart muscles were skeletal muscles. Another thing I learned is that your muscles make lactic acid that slows the muscle functioning for a bit. My hand was moving slightly because muscle fibers were contracting and relaxing.
