Jocasta acts like Oedipus's Threshold Guardian at the end of Scene 3, as she is trying to prevent Oedipus from learning the truth. She acts this way because if he ever found out, it would spell a lot of trouble for the two. By attempting to prevent Oedipus from learning what had happened, she is taking on this role in order to stop him from crossing this barrier that would lead to his downfall, which is caused by his denial.
