In this as well as the other listed pictures of this piece, you will find that it is a nice piece overall. I believe before I threw this one away, it was one of the most neatly distributed and well put together pieces I’ve ever thrown. I would have without a doubt kept this and tried to trim it, however, if you look at the other pictures, you’ll notice there is a tiny crack in the bottom going through the piece. I really thought I did a nice job with the thin walls, lip, and more, however, the crack made me disappointed!

First trimmed piece! I’m very happy with it and currently deciding whether I alter it with a design or not. Overall I am happy with the design and the functionality of the project.

For this mug I attempted something a little more abstract. Originally, it was the design that was implemented was a mess up when i was trimming however I saw an opportunity to make a little save pattern on the front of the piece. The throwing aspect of the piece is relatively well done but I wish I did a different styled mug for my second one. Same with the handle, next time I need to put more effort into constructing the handle hence the uneven mess this handle made.

Pasta Bowl

This was my first real attempt at a bowl and to be honest, I’m on the edge about it. There are many imperfections within the shape, trim job, the inside job, and more. I really do not think it will pass the marble test and it is just a really mid job overall. I could’ve spent more time on this piece and made the bowl shape aspect of it pop, but I got lazy and just made the bare minimum. Next time I need to spend more time and pull more weight out of the bottom to the outside.

Honestly the glaze work on this piece is so utterly terrible I don’t know why I didn’t just a) wash off the glaze and start anew or b) why did I put it on the glaze rack? I was kind of done with the piece anyway and was going to throw it away because it’s just okay then I thought I could utilize it as a Christmas gift. In a way I kind of do like the imperfections showing my complications while making the piece. Kind of symbolic. Now I’m unsure. Overall I need to do better.

I went a completely different route than my original vision board. I tried out the shape and wasn’t loving the fact that I didn’t think I could nail it and replica something with 100% accuracy so I started over fresh and wanted to go for an African style war mask. The holes on the side of the nose go completely through and I will hang some hoop style earrings through every one, further demonstrating the culture. I added some texture on the tongue unlike the rest of the mask with a bristle brush and put some stamping in the facial elements to attract the eyes. Overall for a first build, I like the mask and would like to do another one sometime!
