         <description><![CDATA[<div>- JIA expands enrollment to grades 6-11, still operating on a seat-time waiver. Students are now offered "split-schedules" as an option, taking 3 online classes in combination with classes at the HS, Tech Center, Dual Enrollment, etc.<br>- 5 additional teachers are hired (6 total), 2 are full-time (1.0 FTE) and 4 are part-time (JPS teachers working as adjunct outside of the school day, paid per/student per/course)<br>- JIA begins to instructionally design, develop and review authentic online courses, beginning a 3 year plan to no longer contract online content from vendors.<br>- Online summer school is offered through JIA district-wide for students in grades 6-11.<br>- An International program is formalized<br>- JIA operational budget is determined (based on student enrollment) and established for future school years</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>- JIA expands to grades K-12, graduating the first class of seniors and adding grades K-5.  Still operating on seat-time waivers, in lieu of new 21f legislation established.<br>- 13 total teachers: 3 full-time &amp; 10 part-time adjunct (9 of which are employed at JPS, working for JIA outside of their contracted school day).  A principal/teacher is also hired this year; Becky Redmer becomes the director.<br>- Learning Center is established with published hours for student one-on-one and small group drop-in tutoring 3 days per-week.<br>- Online courses are being taught internationally at partner schools in China.  Short-term student exchange programs are developed, and the F-1 program grows.<br>- JIA begins offering online courses to students at both Jenison High School and Jenison Junior High in lieu of Michigan Virtual.</div>]]></description>
