He made an impact in the railroad industry and made the first company town. He had an interest for passenger travel in the railroad industry and made sleeper cars to make the experience more pleasurable. Before, the railroad cars were uncomfortable and dirty and they were very unsatisfactory. He used the steam engine drill, which was a new thing in the industrial revolution. The number one use for oil in the mid/late 1800's was kerosene. This was because they needed it for lamps because they didn't have light bulbs quite yet. The bi-product of the oil refining process was gasoline and they discarded it in rivers and lakes. If the steel industry didn't happen, we wouldn't have sky scrapers and big city jobs. Not everyone is made for the farm life. I still live in a less urban area and I have to drive twenty minutes to get to stores and such, but it is better than living in rural areas in the west before the industrial revolution because you had to provide your own food, Kids wouldn't have as great of schools or even schools at all.
