Teaser: This website is a campaign to get people to stop saying the R-word. On the website, you can browse to find why you should pledge, news and events, photos and videos, resources, a store, and lastly a place to take action.
Teaching Idea: I will have the students explore the website. They will be required to watch two videos, read two articles and read under the "why pledge" tab. After they have completed this, we will talk as a class about what people have learned. We will also discuss why the R-word is so hurtful. On a classroom board, I will have the students that want to pledge to end the word, sign their names. Around the names of the people that have pledged to end it, we will come up with other words to use rather than the R-word.

Teaser: This video spreads awareness of all the different disabilities there are. The video also encourages people to not discriminate against these people because we are all the same.
Teaching Idea: Students will pick a disability that was seen in the video or a different one they know of. Then, they will research this disability and come up with a presentation to share with the class on the disability. The presentation can be in any form they would like, as long as they are informing their classmates on the disability. After all the students have shared, the students will have a better understanding of all different disabilities.

Teaser: This is a positive picture about disabilities. It takes disabilities and turns it into a positive thing by saying people with disabilities are able.
Teaching Idea: I will show my students this picture. We will discuss how it portrayed disabilities in a positive way. After we have discussed as a class, I will have the students draw a picture or saying that represents disabilities in a positive way. After the students are done, we will hang up their drawings around the room.
