I witnessed a situation where my friend throwed litter on the ground. In this situation it is important for me to know my values and stand for what I find the most crucial. A value that is crucial for is compassion for the planet and the animals that live here. When my friend throws harmful garbage in the nature, all I can think about is the wales and fishes that ends up eating it and end up in their stomach.

Another value that is central in my life is sympathy for other humans. When she throws litter in the nature, and do not clean up after herself, other people end up tidying after her. All the school kids that clean the beaches and does and amazing job every year, just because people don’t bother cleaning after themselves.

To bring up the issue in our friendship I would start by stating my personal opinion about the situation, as well as tell her the consequences of her action. I´d say something like "When you throw your litter on the ground, who will clean it up? Should it lay there and wait until it disappears? If so, it will end up in the ocean and fishes eat it, and at the end it ends up in your food when you eat the fish."

After I have explained her why she shouldn’t throw it in the nature, rather than in a trash can, I hope she understands my values and respect for the nature and climate change. If not, I will have to listen to myself and my personal values and consider to end the relationship.

If you find someone’s lost wallet, it’s really all about whether you have enough self-respect and morality to return it. Or If you lack self-respect and morality and end up taking the money. Everybody knows that returning it is the right thing to do. It comes down to whether you value self-respect, morality, and compassion more than your own personal gain.

There are of course several other factors that are in play here—such as your own financial situation compared to the owner of the wallet. You know, who needs the money the most? If the wallet belonged to like a zillionaire, I would definitely just take the wallet because the owner doesn’t really NEED it. But if it belonged to a sweet 74 year old grandma, I wouldn’t have the heart to take it. In that case, my morality would get the better of me.

What I’m trying to say is that there is no definite right solution to this problem. It all depends on which factors are in play. Mostly about your situation compared to the owner’s.

If we came across a heated discussion on social media where our friends are expressing opposing views our values would be relevant considering how we would approach the situation.

The first value that comes to mind is acceptance. You have to accept others meanings and understand that they may have a different point of view on the topic than you or your friends have.

The second value that we can think of is tolerance. Tolerance is very important and even more important in friendships. You need to be able to tolerance that people have different opinions and that you can’t always agree on things. This is almost the same as acceptance.

For us acceptance and tolerance are very important in this topic. You need to understand and accept that everyone has different opinions and meanings, and that you can’t change people's opinions to fit your own.

We would approach the heated discussion by requesting them to continue the discussion, but more calmly. They have freedom of speech, so they are allowed to express their feelings and meaning. However, the discussion must be calm for it to be efficient. They also need to remember that social media is a public space that everyone has access to.

By: Albert and Karin

In this situation, various values come into play. The value of honesty and to consider returning the wallet with all its contents to its rightful owner. Integrity aligns with the decision to maintain one's honesty and return the wallet untouched. Empathy, or understanding the feelings of others, plays a role as well. Considering how the owner might feel losing their wallet, especially if it contains a significant amount of money. how would you feel in the same situation? Respect for material values is another value. This situation creates an ethical dilemma due to the potential conflict between values. On one side, there's the strong pull towards honesty and integrity, urging one to return the wallet. On the other side, personal financial needs or desires might tempt someone to keep the money.

but we believe that the situation would have been different if a poor man found the same wallet. then their values are different, and the most important thing for them is to survive and not to think about whether someone else finds something they have lost.

In a situation where I find a wallet on the street containing identification and a significant amount of money, my values would play a significant part in how I choose to handle the situation. Firstly, I greatly value Empathy. If I were to lose my own wallet, I would be upset, and it would negatively affect my life. I would want the person finding it, to give it back to me. Therefore, because I value empathy, I would not want to subject others to the experience of losing their wallet.

Secondly, I value a trustworthy society. For that reason, I should return the wallet to fulfill my responsibilities in our society. By doing this I also keep my integrity, which I dearly value.

On the others side, economics is an important material value. If I where to find the wallet of someone super rich and kept it, it would not affect the person to the same degree as If I were to find the wallet of someone poor. Additionally, I would have to consider my own economic situation. If I were extremely poor, I would value the economics over empathy and trustworthiness any day.

In conclusion, how I choose to approach the issue of a lost wallet, comes down to my own economic situation. The value of economics comes before all the other values. However, if I were to have enough money, my choice would come down to empathy, integrity and responsibility.

In this scenario, values like responsibility and justice come to mind. In this ethical dilemma, the moral fiber of the decider comes to show. One could choose to take the money, without any immediate consequence. Here you display greed and egoism over altruism. I would feel that it would be incumbent upon me to give the wallet back, and to make sure that the belongings of the wallet are safely returned to its owner. This is because, for me, justice and responsibility are values that are tangential to my choice of retrieving the wallet to its rightful owner. And because for me, it would be the right thing to do.

Several values comes to play when finding a wallet, containing identification. The few values we think are important is. Responsibility to return the wallet to its rightful owner and taking the appropriate action. Also respect, do you have enough respect for your self to know that this person wallet, has the person worked for, while you just walk on the street and take the money which you have not worked for. Are you responsible enough to give back the money. The amount of money also contributes to your actions, if there was 10 dollars alone, in the wallet. I would personally look around and see if anyone has lost something or just keep it myself. The scenario would change if it was around 50 dollars, because this is a reasonable amount of money to return, and it effects your conscience.
We believe that everyone should control their actions, and whenever they get the chance to return a lost wallet or anything lost, they should immediately do the effort of returning it to the owner.

If I found a wallet on the street, with ID inside I would not have the heart to steal. I would try to contact the owner through the identification that I found in the wallet. Returning the wallet is what my morals agree with, which is why I would´ve felt bad if I had stolen. This is an ethical dilemma because you face an opportunity that will make you gain on the behalf of somebody else. You most likely will consider taking the cash, this is where your morals take a part. Do you succumb to the temptation or do the “right” thing and return the wallet. My personal value justice makes me want to do the right thing. Returning the wallet requires the value of justice since I rightfully return something that does not belong to me.

Written by Marius and Hanna

If I find a wallet on the street containing a significant amount of money and identification, my values such as respect, honesty and loyalty such as my strong morals would come into play. I also believe in justice, and it’s neither responsible nor fair for me to steal the money.

One could think that it’s “the survival of the fittest”, and that it would be reasonable to take the money and put food on the table for me and/or my family. But if I chose to steal the money, it would go against my morals such as respect, honesty and loyalty, and then I wouldn’t be able to look at myself in the mirror that day. What if the wallet was a single mother, or some student who can’t afford rent. Or what if it was a rich man who caught you in the act of taking the money, then you’re screwed. You’re not sure if the money should be in yours or their pocket, and that chance isn’t worth taking. At the same time if I was the one missing my wallet, I would really appreciate and expect to get the the wallet back.

At the point I pick up the wallet, all the cards are in my hand. So, what I decide to do will truly show who I am.

In a situation where I find a wallet on the street, containing identification and a significant amount of money, it is important to consider my values. Money is an important material value for me, so keeping it would probably help me achieve some of my goals in case i lack money. However, I have been raised in a family with good morals and important values like honesty, integrity and a sense of responsibility. If I took the money and not contacted the owner to give it back, it would go against my morals. In addition to this I would feel like a thief and get a really guilty conscience because I would know that I have done something wrong. The money would not be money I had earned myself. Good morals are thus crucial to me. Returning the wallet to its owner would reflect my principles of honesty and integrity because this is also something that I would appreciate if I lost my wallet. I believe in a honest and respectful society where everyone upholds the same positive values, and have the same sense of responsibility.
