         <title>Proclamation of 1763</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Explain the Act:<br></strong>King George III made a proclamation that said there can not be colonial settlement west of the Appalachian Mountains. He hoped to make the Native Americans who had sided against him during the recently concluded Seven Years' War less hostile.<br><br><strong>Why did the British Pass the Act?<br></strong>The British passed the act so that they could make the Natives less hostile by not interfering with them. One more reason is they wanted more control over the colonists so that they didn't revolt.<br><br><strong>How did the Colonists react?<br></strong>The colonists felt that they were being limited. This got many people angry.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Explain the Act: <br></strong>The new tax was imposed on all American colonists and required them to pay a tax on every piece of printed paper they used. Ship's papers, legal documents, licenses, newspapers, other publications, and even playing cards were taxed.<br><br><strong>Why did the British Pass the Act:<br></strong>The British passed the Stamp Act of 1765 to pay of the debt from the war.<br><br><strong>How did the Colonists React:<br></strong>The colonists reacted to the Stamp Act by throwing 46 tons of tea into the Boston Harbor, this would later be called The Boston Tea Party. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Explain the Act:<br></strong>The Quartering Act allowed soldiers to stay in the homes of colonists even if they didn't want the soldiers to stay in their homes. The colonists had to provide the soldiers with whatever they wanted.<br><br><strong>Why did the British pass the act:<br></strong>The british passed the act because there was not enough food and homes for the soldiers.<br><br><strong>How did the colonists react:<br></strong>The colonists were furious at the act because the soldiers were invading their privacy and making them pay money to keep them healthy. </div>]]></description>
