She deeply cares for everybody she is surrounded with and is known for her compassion as Darnay says on page 161 "God bless her for her sweet compassion". She is known by everybody that has ever met her to be almost an angelic presence to be around. Throughout the course of the book, she is pursued by 3 different men, of course, Darnay wins her over and they get married but stryver and carton wished to be hers. Lucie is a dedicated woman who will do anything to save the people she loves. For example, when Darnay was imprisoned she stood outside in the street every day so that he could see her. She embodies the characteristics of a cat, silent but thirsty with a lust for blood. When others call on her for help she replies with nothing but an empty stare, as Lucie Manette experienced herself. Many would consider her a leader, which she did exceed but had the wrong intentions. At the beginning of the book, she is shy and reserved, but we see as her character progresses that she takes a leadership role and gains influence over the people. He is believed to be an aristocrat by all the other citizens that want to put him to death. What Lucie does not know about him, is that his real name is Saint Everemonde and he has only shared that with Dr. Manette. After being imprisoned in the bastille for 18 years he lost his sense of humanity, but with the help of his daughter Lucie his (golden thread) she recalled him to life. Dr. Manette was a man who stuck to his word and would do anything to make his daughter happy which involved him going to save her husband. Many viewed him as an experienced man who has faced the unimaginable, which gained him influence over the citizen patriots. After Lucie and Darnay got married Manette relapsed from his trauma and began to make shoes again, but with the help of Miss Pross and Mr. Lorry he regained his old self.
