Community numbers are increasing and colleagues locally are seeing an increase in hospitalisations (Brimingham and S Wales)
This surge will be different, modelling suggests case numbers should be lower in Gloucestershire but it is likely to be with us for winter. We are ready and finalising our plans the key points being:
This time the 'ask' is different and we will need to continue as much 'normal business' as possible
We will aim to keep c19 DCC in GRH
This will mean much more green DCC in CGH
We have got better at Covid and have learnt - eg. use CPAP and HFO2 more, avoid running patients dry, patients will have steroids early etc.
We are going to look at all the real challenges and make it better eg. visiting restrictions, running so many DCC areas, aim for Resp to run CPAP wards etc.                                           
I still have some wellbeing money left so if there is anything you think we need let me know. We will prepare for the worst -  but PLEASE remember it WILL be different and hopefully much much better than surge 1 (France are reported hospital admissions at just 15% of their surge 1 cases)
