I love the idea of applied knowledge. I find the moment you can apply your learnings into a practical situation very rewarding, as for me it certifies the knowledge I have gained over the past four years. 

Whist developing this course I was given many opportunities to apply my learnings. In particular, weeks two and three which were research weeks. We dedicated this time to gathering all relevant information needed for the course. When researching, I recounted many of my modules from the past four years, and the theorists and theory's I have learnt within them. In particular I looked back on the modules relating to pedagogy, such as the modules 'How People Learn', 'Childhood' and 'Special Education'.  It remined me of the various cognitive process' of learning and development in children, the different techniques you can use to educate children and also the importance of inclusivity for all learners. 

When looking through my old notes it remined me of how far I have come and the knowledge I have acquired, knowledge of which is now second nature to me. The knowledge I applied was not just theory's and methodologies. I got the opportunity to showcase my implicit learnings, such as my experiential knowledge. I applied the knowledge I gained from past placements, completing assignments and using tech and computers for college work.  It is only when I reflect now, that I see how much I have learned and applied, regardless of how basic it may be.

Over the eight weeks of my internship, I believe that I not only developed my communication skills but I adapted to the new norm of virtual communication. The girls and I communicated via Zoom for our meetings and kept in contact via text on days we weren't scheduled to zoom; which isn't easy to do when you are used to working alongside your peers in person. This was challenging for me, the thought of completing eight weeks of work without any face to face contact. 

Working alongside the girls over the eight weeks, showed me the importance of communication for my learning.  I used my communication skills to discuss, analyse and plan the project. Not only did communicating with the girls via zoom essentially build our project, it allowed us to learn from each other, whether it was as little as learning controls on the computer. 

I now see how important communication is for co-operation, decision making and leadership. i now know that communication isn't just about verbal speech, it involves listening, respect and also the ability to keep an open mind about others peoples ideas.

When creating our project, we were faced with many problems to solve, both of high and low stakes. These problems became challenges, which allowed me to utilise and expand my problem solving skills, in order to work towards finding an effective solution. 

As one can imagine, creating a course in a group, remotely, isn't as straight forward as it sounds and technology can be temperamental at times. For example, one of the very first challenges we faced was how we were going to communicate, whether it be skype, teams or zoom. I used my skills to analyse the various mediums of communication, I noted the pros and cons of each, which allowed us to solve the problem at hand.

Challenges also arose when deciding on design and content options, and also when using the various applications to create the course on.  I found, in most cases, my approach to dealing with any complications very proactive. I analysed the situation and weighed out the potential solutions, which I found helped me re-focus on the task at hand.

I joined forces with others to produce a piece of work, meaning each of us were just as accountable to the Covid-19 course. 

In all honestly, I like working on my own, because it ensures you don't have to work through the fear of others not carrying their own weight. Thankfully, we each contributed equal amounts of work and dedication throughout. 

Looking back over the past eight weeks I have realised that I wouldn't have enjoyed creating this course half as much as I would have, had I been working alone. Working alongside the girls has shown me the importance of teamwork and the impact it can have on the outcome of your work. 

I found that working in a team prompted a better outcome for us all, as teamwork allows for weaknesses. In many cases your weakness can be another team members strength. For example, a weakness of mine is that sometimes I can be closed minded.
