It reminded me of my childhood because I mainly grew up in around my grandparents who speak Spanish and have a very similar parenting style to the Mexican culture. I grew up learning many words in Spanish. For example, the word "Shed" to me was "Chante", the word "Avocado" was "Aguacate" pronounced "Owa-cott-ay". This excerpt displays a vivid scene of imagery which gives us a detailed look at the esperanza's own psyche. we see her lack of confidence, but that all goes away as she dances.
