" Born to two actors, Edgar Allan Poe was orphaned after his father abandoned the family in 1810, coupled with the death of his mother, he was (not legally) adopted by a merchant who gave him the name we all know, Edgar Allan Poe" .

" However, their relationship fractured over time, due to which, thanks to other different factors, Poe enlisted in the United States Army, where he published his first two collections" .

Chapter 2: The Slow Rise

" The first two collections were not very successful, added to the fact that he later tried to start his career as a writer in the worst possible time, where living off of writing was almost impossible, at least not in fair or optimal conditions.

In 1835 he became assistant editor, however it did not last long because he often went to work drunk, although he was later reinstated for promising good behavior" .

" His life as a writer was not particularly easy, he had to turn to prose at a certain time due to the little attention that American writers had, since many publishers preferred to earn based on copies of British works, Poe was not someone who was really recognized in his time, not until our times" .

" He was known for his gothic horror along with dark romanticism, he expressed much of his literary theories which attracts the attention of many audiences, it is a mixture of horror with fascination, one that is moderately grotesque and uncomfortable but with details that embellish it, enchanting our generations" .

" He will always be remembered as one of the best Gothic authors for the same reason, the only essence of his works, some that only he could do, for which we still hear about him even after his deathbed" .
