How does ESP differ from EGP?

ESP:

ESP is often used for adult learners in studying a specific needs for a particular matter of study or occupation. ESP learners tend to have more focused goals than EGP. For example, a medical student would learn the terms for various parts of the body in far more details than a high-school biology student, whereas a high-school purposed English would cover only general knowledge on the subject.

ESP learners usually are on an intermediate or advanced level, since they require basic comprehension of English to approach the specific lessons. In contrast to EGP, ESP may only use limited range of skills, such as writing and speaking. EGP on the other hand often makes use of the full four skills in linguistics with equal focus, which are listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

EGP:

EGP usually from any age of learners and may be at all levels too, that have a wide range of goals, motivation, and lexis in a long term of time with no spesific focus but use a general content that taught all four skill but the methodology tends to be similar across courses adopting current thinking in English language teaching in region include limited exposure to target communicative events.
