In my short animation video I used follow through with the pencil when creating an arcing shape for it to follow, this creating interesting patterns making the video appealing to watch. I created this effect by having one end of the pencil stationery while the other moved around it. This along with the exaggerated movements of the pencil, seen as it swivels out of the frame, makes use of some of the 12 rules of animation. The 12 rules were useful in deciding how to utilise a single pencil and a sheet of paper to make a short but entertaining stop-motion clip. Slow in and slow out gave life to an otherwise inanimate object and built momentum as the video moved towards its main movements, alongside the use of exaggeration this gives character to the object and creates a more dynamic piece. Through researching the 12 rules of animation I was able to get a clearer idea of how to build on a simplistic idea for my stop-motion clip to making interesting patterns with only the pencil.
