In my opinion a good nurse isn't only an operator who makes good the therapy, medication or all sanitary practices. Good nurse also this charactheristics is represent by the passion he has in his work and also during his studies, from the desire to learn both new procedures but also situations or things from the patiens, work togheter with other professionals such as doctors, physiotherapists to make the teatment process as effective as possible; but above all create a bond with patients to help them experience an unpleasant situation in the easiest and most joyful way possible.

I don't know if i will a good nurse, this judgment will be decided by my patients and all the people i will work with; but surely i will try to do everything i said and be as good as i can.

Meanwhile strarting from university and internship to be as preparate as possibile for my future in the hospital

Reading Bank 13. (pag 64).

ANAESTHESIA

This article talks about "Anaesthesia". It means "loss of sensation", because drugs block the signals from the nerves to the brain and this stop the feeling of pain.

The use of this drugs started in 19th century, before this time, some doctors used alcohol or morphine but with poor results. The first was the Ether but it had some drawbacks and it has been replaced with chloroform, also only in 1920's less toxic drugs introduced with more longer and effective effects.

Anaesthesia has different ways with different effects:

Local: You stay conscious but free from pain in small part of body

Regional: it's like the local anaesthetics but in a bigger part of the body

General: you stay in a state of controllated unconsciousness and you don't fell nothing. It is used for many diffcult operations like Abdominal surgery.

Anaesthesia in now very safe (1 in 250.000 surgery's deaths) thanks to modern system of monitorig and great understanding of the fuctions of the body.

Write (or record) a 100 word description of one of your clinical tutors. What kind of personality did your tutor have? What did you admire about this person?

In my internship i meet a lot of tutors all different from each other and with diffent qualities and personalities. In particular two tutors are imprinting my mind in significative way. They are very serious in their job, for me this quality represents the essence of their university studies and also the love for this profession. They have almost two personlities like a "coin"; beyond the last quality, they also know how to recognize the difficults of the student like: shyness, fear of a new department, disorientation and they help us. In my opinion also a good tutor must also has the capacity to make the student part of the group. I admire the passion that they put into teaching and the desire to let people try the procedures directly and not just by looking. I admire they also for the skills, a lot of skills that they taught me like: the proportions for the drugs without the calculator (for the emergency), the use of the hands fort the EmoGas in the correct way for avoid mistakes (>potassium if pushed with fingers), know how to make a crib etc.

In the end i hope all of this qualities to one day be able to teach them to the students who will be with me.
