A film/video can only be successful if there is a very clear purpose and goal. Producing a video is like writing a letter. You must know the audience, your key message(s) and the desired outcome. Answering the following questions will help you clarify the direction of the film

  1. What/who is the film about?
    1. The film is about me, the relation between the first basketball and first trophy I ever won and how they led to basketball being as big in my life as it is now. It is also about how I found my passion for basketball and where my dream started.
  2. What is the purpose of the film?
    1. The purpose is to show what started/ignited my passion for basketball and to show that I am going to work as hard as I can to reach my goal of playing college basketball.
  3. Who is your audience?
    1. My audience is very widespread, so generally any viewer.
  4. What are the three most important points this film should make?
    1. Be determined, the importance of finding something you are passionate about, and work hard for what you want.
  5. When the lights come up after the film is shown, what do you want the audience to do and/or feel?
    1. I want them to go back to their daily lives knowing what inspired me and I want them to know that the have to find something they love and pursue it with everything they have.
  6. What is the ONE thing, if they get nothing else, you want the audience to remember after watching the film?
    1. I want them to remember that I committed to my dream and didn’t give up on it, and that they shouldn’t give up on their dreams either.
  7. Who are the people/stories that best illustrate your message? If there are any upcoming events or opportunities for filming these people/stories, please list them here.
    1. This Friday I have a huge tournament that is the biggest one in the country, and I am one of the 4 sophomores on varsity for it, so I could try to film something from that. I could film shots of clothing and shoes from previous teams and current teams I’m on. I could also have someone film scenes of me working out and training to show that I am working to get better.
  8. Is there existing footage that can be utilized for this project? If so, please list items here.
    1. Shots of me playing basketball before this can be used.
  9. What length would you like your film? 
    1. I believe the required length is 60 seconds
  10. When would you like the film completed?
    1. It must be completed by this Sunday at 11:59, but I would like it completed ASAP.
  11. List any videos or films that represent the style and/or format you prefer for this project.
    1. Third person and first person Point of View shots are the best for this type of shot for this.

Additional comments:
I want this to be like a life summary up to right now in my life based around basketball and hard work, and I feel like if I can do it right, it will turn out great.

  2. Past and present combined
    1. Videos of my playing from as far back as I can go to the present
    2. Videos of all my jerseys starting back as far I have to right now this day before my game on friday with voiceover
    3. A combination of the Jerseys and the videos with a voiceover on the jerseys
  3. A mixture of Jerseys, videos and other related scenes such as:
    1. My parents’ persective on how hard I worked
    2. Videos of me training to show that I work hard
    3. Teammates point of view 
    4. Awards being shown in the video
