I love teaching regression equations at the end of 3rd quarter in 9th grade math. Students explore different situations with different type of data and how we make trend lines to make predictions. One thing they really enjoy is developing their own data set and then making predictions using the best regression equation.

It was a great novel to get students involved in the "dialogue between characters" in the narrative text. We frequently "acted out" certain scenes from the novel, and students frequently went above and beyond the requirements by including costumes, props, speaking accents, lighting, and music--all without prompting from the teacher. By the end of the day, our room would be crowded with other classes coming to watch their peers "perform" their version "Of Mice and Men."

I need to do a deep dive into my assigned schools' curriculum maps.

They are different grade levels and are using different curriculum resources, so their maps look different.

I also need to seek out more information on the whole curriculum mapping process in order to advise the leadership and teachers at my schools.

I want them to gauge their own progress first and let me know where they need more support.

To keep the momentum of the curriculum maps moving, the Education Specialists will host a virtual monthly meeting with the schools they have been assigned. This will allow us to keep the "living documents" in motion. The tracking that is obtained during these meetings will help us update/make adjustments at the end of the school year.

Have each school identify a Head/Lead Teacher for Curriculum Mapping.
Work with each Head/Lead Teacher on Curriculum Mapping next steps. What are the school needs?
Share the strategies learned today, in phases:
1. Add "Notes" on resources that worked well. Note unanticipated barriers....etc.

PHX will be tracking K-8 teachers via a Network Learning Community. The HS teachers will be implementing and prepare for a work session to do a follow up on their maps. Teachers have plotted their NLC on their calendar which is in a shared folder accessible by the schools.
