         <description><![CDATA[<p>Born in Red River, during 1844 Louis Riel was a key figure in the Red River and North-West resistance/rebellion. Riel was a leader in Metis government and a very influential figure in his time. During the last battle of the North-West Rebellion, three days after it ended Riel surrendered to authorities. He later was tried and sentenced to hang in Regina Sk, 1885 for high treason.</p>]]></description>

Elsie MacGill was able to give planes a smaller turning circumference, making it easier for pilots in battle. Parliament Hill even went through a fire in 1916, then needed to be rebuilt from 916-1920. From 1921-2001 the building has gone through many more fires, reconstructions, and adaptations in order to withstand time. Therefore marking it as a Historic building and current importance to Canada.</p>]]></description>
