2. Currently, I am collaborating with teachers to offer more IBC's and Programs of Study based on student interest and future career opportunities available in our local economy.

I could strengthen my impact by expanding our practicum courses and work-based learning opportunities.

Collaboration time, and materials could be an obstacle in this endeavor :)

To provide rigorous and effective Algebra 1 instruction to high school freshmen by implementing standards-based lessons that build conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and problem-solving skills. Instruction will be differentiated to support diverse learning needs, with frequent formative assessments used to guide instruction and ensure all students are prepared for success in higher-level mathematics.

-I plan to start including TSI prep in my weekly bell ringers to help my students get prepared for the test and hopefully that will help increase our dual credit participation.

I feel like one of my yearly goals is always to increase rigor in my classroom. I always flirt with that 30% on masters with STAAR give or take each year and I feel like this goal will help that percent increase! I’m always looking for ways to implement more rigor, and I guess an obstacle would be coming up with these rigorous things to do that actually will be beneficial.

Not all kids are ready for dual credit rigor. Not all of those who are capable of success in my class can pass the English TSI. Some cannot financially afford dual credit classes.

More scholarships would help.

Being new I’m not sure how things work quite yet so I need to ensure I question things, and people that seems out of sorts. I can’t be afraid to say something just because I’m the new guy. I also can’t be afraid to ask people when I’m not sure on procedures.

I can improve my efforts by gaining knowledge using data and observation of each student individually. Seeing as the students have yet to arrive, I will have to taylor my lessons to meet them where they are and help them rise as high as possible.

Obstacles: time constraints and student interest

Improvements: CTE Center that offers move trades such as plumbing, HVAC, police/fire academy.

My class improvements: more equipment such as dedicated tshirt printer, UV printer to print sports banners, window clings, etc. More entrepreneurial experiences for students.

Obstacles: funding

Time is the biggest obstacle, as are the criterion from Vernon College.

Currently working on ASE Certs by dedicating one day a week to work with students on testing and strategies.

Obstacles could be having all students there on the days dedicated to the day. Technology being down.

Currently, we all go to Region 9 for PD hours, but sometimes the sessions available to us don’t necessarily pertain to what we teach. We go to a session based on availability and just to get hours.

It would be cool if while Admin observed classes and saw good things happening, that they asked those teachers to share their ideas with the rest of us during one of our PD days. Whether it be classroom management strategies, organization, technology or apps they use, or something as simple as how they get kids to learn vocabulary words.

I consistently prioritize effective and rigorous instruction by planning engaging lessons that meet academic standards and challenge my students. I try to implement creative teaching strategies that keep students interested and involved in the learning process.

One challenge I’ve observed is the inconsistency in rule enforcement across different classrooms, which can lead to behavioral issues. In my classroom, I am firm and consistent with expectations, which helps minimize distractions and maximize academic performance. However, when expectations are not consistently reinforced by all staff, it creates confusion and misbehavior among students. A more unified approach would improve student behavior and support a stronger learning environment school wide.
