I have shared a link to a soundtrack for a TV show called The Wire; which is one of my favorite TV shows. The soundtrack is made up of songs used in various episodes of the 5 seasons.

I'm on the home stretch of this Master’s degree with only two subjects left in the Archives and Records Management specialism. I'm currently working as a teacher aide at a high school and while it might not be strictly the field I want to be in, everything is an experience.
 As for career aspirations, I would love to go back to Tennessee and work for Dolly Parton's Imagination Library. I know her library is expanding worldwide, so maybe I'll
be lucky enough to start in Australia and transfer. I’m also interested in community archives and genealogy so it would be a great challenge to work in smaller institutions. One of my passions has always been social inclusion and knowledge growth. I would love to work for an institution that has a program guided by voices outside the dominant white western. This idea has become increasingly focused in my mind after doing Community Histories last semester and the upcoming referendum.
An object as a record? The image I’ve attached is a completed cross stitch of my sisters dog, Errol. He left us about a year ago (riddled with cancers). The whole piece took me about 18 months and more hours than I can even calculate. Errol was a special dog, and I’m glad I can give this to my sister and her family (once framed). In terms of appraisal, it probably doesn’t mean anything to anyone outside of my family, but I’m sure we’ve all seen tv shows where they find antique samplers that are worth serious money because of the age. I am on the way to completing my MIS with Records and Archives specialisation (just INF528, INF529, and placement still to go). I am hoping to combine my studies in records and archives practice with my background in science and collaborative indigenous education programs. I have chosen a photo of Australian bushland to represent the natural world and the importance of recording information we can share and learn about it, including traditional knowledge and new discoveries. I have three subjects left to go in this Masters, including this one, and have recently started working in archives in higher ed, which has been a steep but really enjoyable learning curve! I hope to stay in this role for a while and get the full experience of working both with records and heritage materials, especially the increasing volume of digital records. My important item is my diary, which iI don't use as a journal, but is a valuable aid for my terrible memory.  I have used the same style for over ten years now, and so have amassed a bit of a collection, which now has a different kind of value to me, as I can look back at what I was doing back when. Like many others here, INF528 and INF529 are the last two subjects needed to complete my master's. However, these subjects are only offered in semester two. As I have no other subjects left, I had "free time" last semester and enrolled in the Graduate Certificate of Social Research as a further stepping stone towards a PhD goal. 

For my image I value, I choose a fanfiction that crashed a website! Posted on Archive of Our Own (AO3) the fic had so many metadata tags that it infiltrated thousands of categories and the sheer volume of keywords slowed down the devices of mobile users. AO3 users demanded action be taken and the fic to be removed, and the archive was faced with an interesting dilemma- was this deliberate malfeasance or merely an inconvenient, yet legitimate, creative expression which the archive had vowed to protect?  I treasure this fic as an example of how ONE record can affect organisational policy and practice. The provided Youtube link shows only HALF of the tags accumulated, and crawls across the screen like Star Wars and is accompanied with music to really showcase the epic amount of data that was, at one point, longer than the fic itself.

I am Amanda, and I am from Brisbane  :D I currently work for a media organisation in their video archive as a metadata officer and while it has been an extremely valuable learning opportunity to see how metadata immediately impacts users, i find it incredibly dull for 8 hours a day. I hope to one day join a special collections library or museum because I am a chaos gremlin who likes touching things (following appropriate industry guidelines :D ) that have signs that say 'Do not Touch'.
My record item (not shown) is a family bible that came with my great great grandfather from Sweden. Unfortunately this item was lost to a terrible flood in the middle 2010 is outback qld.
