The first part of the project was to choose an invasive species that they were interested in, research how humans introduced it to our area, what it eats, habitat, reproduction, predators, ways that it is trying to be controlled, and ideas on how to better control it.  

I was hoping that some of my more "reluctant" students would really like this activity.  I have students who think that school is not necessary, especially science, because they know what they will be doing when they get out of school.  Most of them are planning to farm.  Several of them fish and hunt. I really hoped that with all of the invasive species that we see in farming and fishing especially, that the students would be interested.  Some were, but I still had students who just came up with kill them, poison them, and so on.  Even when I tried to begin a discussion of how these things can impact the entire ecosystem, they said so what.  
I will still be doing this project next year with my students with tweaking.
