Please feel free to post anything regarding your personal relationship with the military or women veterans. As many voices go unheard or misrepresented we want this to be an outlet for those voices.

I was in the Army during 2016-2018 and was able to travel to Camp Casey, South Korea (579th FSC), and Fort Polk, Louisiana. I've met alot of wonderful people on the way and during my time in the Army met the love of my life. We are still currently doing long distance until I move next year to Chicago. Alot of the times I don't like to call myself a Veteran with the little amount of time I served.

I’ve seen young women 17-19 in the military moved to different countries with little time to spend with family before they go (basic to tech school to their assignment) and being the subject of harassment from peers and higher ups the day they start in a new work center. A lot of time it goes unreported because it negatively impacts career progression amongst other things. This paired with little support networks and lack of mental health support can be mentally detrimental which is why I don’t recommend it at all when someone asks if they should join the military.

I have a few friends from high school and college who are married to people in different branches and I have watched them move their families around the country and even around the world every time their spouse gets transferred somewhere else. On the one hand they seem excited to experience a new place, on the other hand they seem stressed about having to manage all of the logistics of moving especially with kids.
