This treaty, although not willing, allowed Japan to trade with other countries. Japan was unfortunately forced into creating this treaty. This also forced them into industrializing. However, despite the unfortunate circumstances, Japan embraced industrialization and became massively important for trading. Even to this day Japan is crucial in producing products.

1884- Berlin conference

This conference is an infamous example of the unfairness of imperialism. The conference focused on splitting up control over Africa among European countries. Despite the fact that the discussion was about the fate of Africa, there was no African officials or government invited. They had no say in how their land was to be divided.

The maxim gun was the first automatic range weapon developed. This was very hard to fight against, and led to the invasion of India and Africa by Europe. The threat of a powerful weapon was enough to keep the people under control and the Europeans in power.

The British East India Company was how Britain controlled India. They were the ones to create ports and trade routes, set laws to control production, and seize most of the valuable products and resources made by India.

1810-1882 Industrialization of Egypt

Egypt leapt at the idea of industrializing. They saw how Europe was changing and decided it would be a good way to foster trade. Sadly, their attempts at industrialization did not rocket them into greatness like it did with Japan and England.

After seeing the success of England, Egypt decided to begin to industrialize. They began to produce cotton, however this was their downfall. Egypt produced ONLY cotton, which greatly stunted their growth as an economy. Sadly, they were never rocketed into being an industrial power like Japan or Enlgand.
