This quote stood out to me because Jeannette realized they are going to be living in there car forever because they don't have money but are very lucky to see the stars.

1. What feelings or emotions does this book evoke for you? Choose a passage from the

reading that elicits a response from you and explain. This book so far makes me feel bad for the kids and jeannette because they aren't living the life they want and the parents are neglective.

2.Is there a relationship between the beginning and the end of the story? yes because in the end jeannette is well of and meets with her mom about her digging the trash for food, but her mom get upset and says she has changed in the wrong way. In the beginning when shes a little girl it shows how she grew up and why her mom said that.

3.How does repetition of any particular motif reinforce the theme? The repetition of family is within Rex because he truly cares for his kids but can't do much for them without money and a stable place for the kids.

When Jannette was getting her hair combed by grandma Smith.Grandma Smith was mad that Rosemary does not do their hair, but Jannette said,"Mom believed children should be responsible for their own grooming". This quote caught my eye because this shows how much the kids are independent because Rosemary doesn't really take care of them. The kids grew up doing everything themselves only because the mom wants them to face adversity
