Summary:

My friend and I planted a pot of onions and waited for it to grow in 3 days. Surprisingly, the onion branches grew quickly, and we needed to water them. So, I recorded a video of the sound while watering the onion plants. Children often love playing with water, especially when watering plants in the garden. When you water plants, the sound can be soothing and gentle, creating a calming atmosphere. Sometimes, the water might drip slowly, making a soft, steady dripping noise. If you pour water quickly, it can create a splashing sound as it lands on the plants and soil. It was so interesting to hear that sound.

Summary:

We play a game named “mirror game”. One acts as the leader, moving their arms, legs, head, and face, in a slow steady pattern so that they can be ‘mirrored’ by their partner. The follower strives to copy the leader exactly. It’s an excellent focus exercise. When I did the tree, and my teammates did the same thing or when I was a bird my teammate needed to follow exactly what I was doing.

Summary:

'Taba Naba' offers an opportunity for children to explore Traditional Torres Strait Island culture and foster creativity and appreciation for different styles of music and dance. Me and my friend have a free dance based on the song and it was so fun. This is a fun way to incorporate movement and listening skills. Incorporate hand movements that mimic weaving, as the term "Tana Bana" refers to the intricate weaving patterns in the fabric. Show the children how to move their hands in wave-like motions, representing the weaving of threads.

My assessment 2 inspired me the idea to create 3 activities for assessment 3. A visit to Malmsbury Botanic Garden inspired me to create different outdoor activities by playing in the garden. We can play amazing drama activities here with children in the natural environment. Link to the resource, "Meaning can be conveyed in multiple modes (written language, spoken language, visual, audio, gestural, and tactile and spatial systems of meaning" (Kalantzis, Cope, Chan, and Dalley-Trim, 2016) (session 6). As small children, we lived in a multimodal world. We discovered that art was a language with as much communication power as speech. My drama activities show that children can express different ideas of their world or something they are interested in to create new stories in the mirror.

According to, Victor Zupanc has been CTC's Music Director and Resident Composer, I learned how to create Foley art in my sound activities. Integrating Foley art into sound activities gives children a unique opportunity to engage with sound creatively and interactively. Victor Zupanc's experience likely offers a wealth of techniques and methods that can inspire children to think critically and innovatively about the role of sound in storytelling and performance. Moreover, the natural environment plays an important role to create storytelling and promote children to express ideas. “Through role play, children can “decenter” – to get into another person’s shoes and to see things from another perspective (Bilton, 2002). It fosters empathy, communication, and problem-solving skills, all of which are essential for healthy social and emotional development.

Reflection:

All the activities materials and sounds, movements went through my expectations. I like to use natural materials in different activities for children and the “Taba Naba” song is my favourite song in learning Indigenous cultures. The only not go as expected is I couldn’t speak clearly in my presentation which made everyone engaged in my activities. Next time I need to practice my presentation and control my anxiety and emotions in public speaking. Engaging with a unit that focuses on music, movement, and drama can deeply influence one's perspective on the importance and impact of these elements in education and development. It can inspire me to encourage children to experiment with their ideas and feelings through these art forms. Music, movement, and drama often involve play-based approaches that engage children's imagination and creativity.
