No one wears cloaks of any kind due to fear of the perpetrator emerging from the shadow of their cloak and murdering them (which did happen). All houses, save for Coleen's, are fully lit without any considerable shadows wherever they can help it. However, the raised houses are at a greater risk of falling victim to the perpetrator due to the shadow beneath those buildings and some show signs of rotting wood on the undersides due to this fact.

According to witness reports, he and Chalice got into an argument in the schoolyard. Chalice stormed out, was gone for a few minutes, then returned with a mead bottle.
