I've decided to change tack and am writing a paper for a special issue of the Journal of Management Education. This is an invited paper

Sample paper

I've attached one paper from JME...cannot figure out how to attach a second!

My Guidelines
1. 2500 - 3000 words
2. Write first, edit later
3. Integrate writing into every day (minimum 2 hours per day)

What is it about?

The aim of this paper is to demonstrate the value of knowledge which emerges from the shadow side of experiential learning.

In this paper I focus on one episode from a week-long experiential learning module for Masters’ students on leading and managing in which a student verbally attacked me by saying 'fuck off...if I want to feel my feelings I'll go and see a shrink'

The capacity to learn from what goes awry in organisations is a key managerial skill. Not every project goes to plan and not every working relationship is supportive and positive. As an educator I see my role as helping students work with and through the emotional dynamics generated in work relationships even when those dynamics are difficult to bear and the overriding impulse is to avoid or defend against them.

Title
If I want to feel my feelings I'll go and see a shrink: (subtitle yet to be written)

Acknowledgements

Donncha Kavanagh
Allen Higgins
Eamonn Ambrose
Terry Barrett
