         <description><![CDATA[<p>Oil, based on the three components of  sustainability, is not a sustainable resource.&nbsp;Although its economic advantages are immense, the affect it has on the environment is negative.&nbsp;The oil industry provides jobs for society in a negative way. I decided to rate is as a two because two of the three components of sustainability are affected in a negative way.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Extraction of oil would not be very sustainable for our society.  Although, community members benefit from using oil it affects the workers negatively. The workers need to work long hours. Their families wish to spend more time with them but they are too busy working. </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Oil spills can effect our environment is some bad ways. The oil spills can kill birds, fish and plants in our ocean. If these animals are not treated right away they can die. Oil spills don't happen very often but they can still affect our environment in a big way.  </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The economy in some ways can be affected&nbsp;<span style="font-size: 13px; -webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%;">and some may not be affected, it depends&nbsp;</span></p><p>on the situation.</p><p><span style="font-size: 13px; -webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%;"><b>Are local, national, and international economies affected in a negative way?</b></span></p><p><span style="font-size: 13px; -webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%;">No; oil is used for many things.</span></p><p><span style="font-size: 13px; -webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%;"><b>Are meaningful job opportunities provided by this resource?</b></span></p><p><span style="font-size: 13px; -webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%;">Yes; given good jobs opportunities. When working on oil rigs, though can be harmful.</span></p><p><span style="font-size: 13px; -webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%;"><b>Is there a long-term economic gain for people and communities?</b></span></p><p>Possibly; if we find other resources it could be.</p><p><b>Is the extraction of the resource sustainable according to the economy component?</b></p><p>Oil is not sustainable. There is only a limited supply of oil, so when it's gone we will have to find a new resource to use.</p>]]></description>
