Additionally, I don't have the right words to tell you how powerful and influential your explanation of 'emotions' are. As your student, I use to really look forward for your class and to hear you make sense of human jigsaw puzzle, sounding so uncomplicated- unlike the pedagogy. It was absolutely fascinating! I was absolutely delighted to learn from you more as your FA. It was truly an amazing learning journey finding the meaning and nuances of racism with you. The language at the core of culture and racism seems like such a simplistic way of putting it but your positive energy, care and guidance made the journey so meaningful, dismantling many unconscious personal barriers for me and opening my eyes to the education beyond! My current practicum supervisor who was a TCSPP student 8 years back still remembers you fresh and the tea times you offered. You are incredible!

I will miss you a lot and wish you the very best for your future journeys and thank you for being you!!

Jaweria

Elaine,

A short statement on this Padlet cannot fully express the profound impact you have had on so many people at TCSPP, students, faculty, and staff alike. Your professional presence will be very much missed, particularly your knowledge about neuropsychology and your passion for diversity and social justice. I personally will miss the astute observations and professional advice that you provided during your years as an esteemed member of our school psychology faculty and the MDAC committee, ones that I very much benefited from hearing. I will also very much miss the informal moments of connections we had over the years via brief morning greetings as we arrived at work to in-depth conversations about a vast range of topics. Lastly, I will miss the support you provided when I needed it and your spontaneous acts of levity, such as the fake mustache photo shoot, that brought laughter into our faculty gatherings.

I look forward to maintaining our friendship despite your absence from the halls of TCSPP.

Auf wiedersehen, (Until we see each other again)

Candice

My dear friend,

Although we met some 30-years ago in Colorado and worked so diligently on projects across the years, when I think of you, I still think of The Chicago School. You began one of the most vibrant and transformational neuropsychological doctoral programs in the country and the students and faculty who worked with you during that time have all been so very blessed. I think I learned much more than I gave during those special “neuropsychology doctoral program” years. Your scholarship, vision, devotion, and drive for the field of school neuropsychology are needed to solve so many pressing educational and societal issues--we must not slow down or stop--education direly needs the new neurobiology-neuropsychology. I am fortunate to have been blessed with you in my life. Wishing you well in the next chapter of your life.

Rik Carl D’Amato
