Tony Stark is sent back in time by one of Cleopatra's enemies as well, and he teams up with her to return to the future. I chase this because it is a unconventional view on Cleopatra in the light we usually see her in- the siren-esque seductress. However, in this take, she becomes a damsel in distress not ong after. Cleopatra is also depicted as white, which is not terribly shocking as this piece comes from the 1960s and she is meant to be a good character. It was rare for there to be people of color as good characters in the 1960s.

This painting is done by Alexandre Cabanel and has gathered quite a bit of fame. It features Cleopatra relaxing while the prisoners are taken away from dying by the various poisons she tested on them. This piece really paints Cleopatra as a ruthless seductress and tells so much about her character just within one panel. It is clear to see how opinions were formed when there are pieces like these.

This photograph shows an African version of Cleopatra. I chose this picture because after reading parts of the "Afrocentric Cleopatra" chapter in Prudence J. Jones' Cleopatra: A Sourcebook, I found it both fascinating and reasonable to suspect that Cleopatra was African, even though she is seldom depicted that way in popular culture. Through this photograph, I believe that Cleopatra's name is being used to represent many women and many cultures. Even though many viewers may have seen white or eurocentric versions of Cleopatra (such as Elizabeth Taylor in the movie Cleopatra) as well as Roman, Greek, or Egyptian versions of her in ancient art, an African version of Cleopatra shows that she may have been as universal as she was popular.

http://oreime.com/2016/11/25/queen-cleopatra-beautiful-and-powerful-african-queens/

This image of Cleopatra shows her in a more traditionally Greek looking attire as opposed to Egyptian. It displays her important ties with the Roman Empire as well as her love affairs with Julius Caesar and Mark Antony. She is also portrayed as a seductress with her short skirt and tiny waist but the protective gear on her wrists and legs as well as her scepter make her appear similarly to a strong male ruler.

This is a modern interpretation of Cleopatra, through Katy Perry's portrayal of her. Katy Perry plays Cleopatra in her song "Dark Horse." The video is about men trying to win over Perry's Cleopatra character, and at the end of the video Perry dresses like Isis, while on top of a pyramid. However, Perry received backlash for the video for appropriating symbols and imagery of Egyptian culture; plus it resembled the imagery used by the Illuminati. Many of Perry's lyrics for this song also seem to be parallel with the most famous portrayals of Cleopatra.
https://genius.com/Katy-perry-dark-horse-lyrics

This is an image of Cleopatra that was used in the Scooby Doo movie "Where's my Mummy." Since it is a children's movie, they focus less on trying to portray her in a seductive fashion, instead focusing character design to show off more of the wealth and imposing presence of a ruler of Egypt. It is interesting to note that they included the image of the snake for both her crown and one of her bracers, drawing back to the well known story of her suicide.

This picture is a screen grab from the video game Assassin's Creed. I chose this image because it portrays Cleopatra as a promiscuous, wealthy woman based on her limited articles of clothing and her elaborate headgear. Yet it also portrays her in a modern image despite it being artificially created. In the game she is known to have a strong influence over the men in it who she later betrays while wearing even lesser clothing. I thought this image was interesting because it sparked outrage amongst society because her portrayal was considered too sexual.

This image of Cleopatra shows her as a ruthless seductress while looking death (the Snake) in the eye. This photo shows a representation of a more golden and tanner looking Queen of Egypt. This is how I envision Cleopatra to have looked. The image shows a wealthy goddess due to her limited clothes, the flourish of fruits, and all the jewelry on her body. I love the fact that she is looking the snake in the eyes because it seems to almost draw back to the story of her suicide.

I like that she looks very careless. They seem to be talking to her and she looks like she doesn't care because she knows what she will be doing anyway. In this interpretation she looks more seductive than she does in other versions but she still looks like she is in control of everything that is going on.

This image of Cleopatra shows an interpretation of her with afrocentric features. It has been widely debated the race of Cleopatra, given that it is near impossible to determine without remains. Since she was a queen in Africa, there is wide support that she would've had African features and dark skin. I've seen speculation that the hair portrayed in Egyptian art is something accomplished with a certain coily hairstyle, which would support this interpretation. However, as we've read, it's very difficult, if not near impossible to be sure of Cleopatra's race

It's very much a dramatized image though it doesn't really show her as the classic "seductress". She has an expression more of concern or feigned confidence, which I find interesting.
