         <description><![CDATA[<p>China marks the 83rd anniversary of the 9.18 incident, also known as the Mukden Incident that happened on 18 September, 1931 where Japanese troops bombed a portion of the railway station near Shenyang that was under their control and used that as an excuse to carry out an attack that night. It was the beginning of the 14 years war against Japan. On 18 September 2014, the CCP Politburo Standing Committee member, Li Yunshan joined citizens to strike a large bell engraved with the words, "never forget national humiliation" at Shenyang. More than 1000 people, including other senior CCP officials, local officials, veterans of the anti-Japanese war and students, were around. Air raid sirens were sounded at 9.18am in Shenyang and other cities along the China Liaoning Province. Li urged the citizens not to forget their sufferings and cause a rise of anti-Japanese sentiments in an attempt to maintain national unity and foster a patriotic spirit.</p><p>19 September 2014</p><p>Source: http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/china/2014-09/18/c_133653588.htm#</p>]]></description>
