This show is a great example of the impacts others have on an adolescent, but it is also a great example of how adolescence learn from their peers, family and forms of media.

The Impact Media has on Henry.

So, there is no media in this episode, or really in the show, but i would say that the book that Henry has is a form of media. This book is the story book that he has that has proof that everyone in the town is a fairy tale character and they are in a curse. This book provides information he needs to break the curse. This tends to be a problem for all the adults around because he is glued to this book and that is pretty much all he talks about. So, it can get overwhelming This book contains information about every ones history. There is a lot of violence, such as wars, and sword fights. This does eventually cause Henry to want to learn how to use a sword, which may not be the best thing for someone his age. (Adolescence, pg. 201).

The Impact Family Had on Henry

Henry's family is the majority of the people in the town, its a bit confusing so I will not go to much into it. Emma is his mom. Snow White and Price Charming are his grandparents, they are also Emma's parents. Regina, his adoptive mom is also he grandmother because she is Snow Whites step-mother, the Evil Queen. They all love and care for Henry so much. Henry in return loves them. Since Henry is the one who knew the truth from the beginning, his role in the family changes. He gains more power, voice, in what decisions are made and he also tests his limits. Although they do listen to Henry's input, they do not always take his advice because it might cause him harm (Adolescence, pg. 101). Henry Running away to find his birth mom for one would not have been the decision made if he talked to his adoptive mother about it.

The Impact Peers had on Henry.

Henry's peers really care about Henry and they really want what is best for him. Henry has a therapist and he is trying to help Henry move on from this fantasy he has about the town and the people in it. Although Henry knows that is will be hard to convince everyone that they are fairy tale characters, he still finds a way to keep his belief, despite all the logical explanations they provide him. So, I would say that Henry really cares about his peers, but they do not do much to change his mind on his belief about the town and its people. Henry's character does not really get exposed to peers in this show. But there is a young girl at one point in the show who Henry has a crush on and they click pretty well. I would say that she has an impact on Henry and his actions because he would do anything for her. He did find her horse when he ran away. This is when he is about 14 years old, so it is around the time when adolescents begin to have more peers of the opposite sex. (Adolescence, Pg. 127)

The episode that I will be talking about is the very first episode. In this episode, Henry runs away from home to locate his birth mother, Emma. Once he finds her he takes her back to his hometown, Story Broke. When they arrive there, the clock tower says that it is 8:15, and Henry says that it is always 8:15 there, the clock does not move. This is because of the curse that Regina did. Time stands still. Henry believes that Emma is the savior and only she can break the curse. Emma drops Henry off at his house and his adoptive mother, Regina the Mayor of the town, is happy to have Henry back. Henry and Regina don't have the best or strongest relationship because he believes her to be the Evil Queen. Regina ends up threatening Emma to get out and leave Henry alone, this just entices Emma to stay a little while to make sure that Henry is safe. Once Emma pays for a room at the town motel, the clock suddenly strikes 8:16.

This show is about fairy tales. Not so much like Disney fairy tales, more like a realistic version of what happen in the fairy tale stories. In the first season it is about a young boy named Henry Mills and he goes and finds his birth mother, named Emma Swan, and brings her back to his hometown. He tells her that all the people that live in this town are fairy tale characters but they do not remember who they are because of the curse his adoptive mother, Regina Mills, who is also the Evil Queen. The show then proceeds to be about righting wrong and defeating evil.
