Construct software and physical systems, system designers employ precisely described mathematical models. Formal approaches, unlike other design techniques, its use mathematical proof as a supplement to system testing to verify a accurate and correct behavior to statisfy demand of security.

We want to define the system + articulate implicit assumptions with writing a specification to prove the program.

Advantages of Formal Methods
Formal methods offer additional benefits outside of provability, and these benefits do deserve some mention. However, most of these benefits are available from other systems, and usually without the steep learning curve that formal methods require.
