Realism emerged in the 1840s in France by Gustave Courbet, who was the first person to consciously declare and practice thisism in art. Realism as a response to and rejection of such theories as romance and magic dominated those centuries. Realism was created in a time of turmoil like the Civil War and was marked by revolution and widespread social change at the time. As noted above, thisism superseded ideas such as idealism and subtext in traditional art. Has given society the same weight as great historical paintings and fables. Realism has almost the same as the slow-growing western countries The realist movement in France is characterized by a spirit of revolt against the strong support of officials for historical association. Later in America, the term realism had many different definitions and new changes after the movement attacking American Surrealism and magical realism evolved out of the movement.

What is it?
"Naturalism" is a term that has a nasty and complicated history in art criticism. It has been used since the 17th century to refer to any work of art that attempts to present the reality of its subject without regard for the constraints of convention, or concepts of 'beauty'. Then Naturalism became one of the great trends of the century and, combined with realism on the subject, resulted in impressionism and modern art. Naturalism is often associated with the practice of air.
When was it?
Naturalism is an enhanced form of realism. After the grim realities of a brutal war, they become the writer's primary mode of expression. developed in part in response to some of the major scientific discoveries about the natural world at the time.
Kate Chopin (1851-1904)

Much of Chopin's work is in the regionalist genre, her stories and especially her novel, The Awakening, are also notable for introducing controversial subjects such as sex of women, divorce, extramarital sex and crime. Chopin learned to speak both French and English in her home and was sent to Catholic school. At the age of nineteen she married Oscar Chopin. They moved to New Orleans, Kate became active in the city's social life. Her fluency in French and Southern affections ensured that she easily assimilated into New Orleans society. In 1883, Oscar Chopin died of swamp fever, leaving Kate Chopin a thirty-two-year-old widow with six children to support and limited financial resources. Chopin returns to St. Louis, where she moved into her mother's house and began writing poetry and short stories. in that time, Chopin creates realistic depictions of the distinctive customs of the area and captures the angles and variations of Louisiana speech in her dialogue. In 1894, she published a hugely successful collection of short stories, Bayou Folk, and was followed by another collection of Louisiana stories called A Night in Acadie. Her stories have been praised and frequently anthology since their publication in the 1890s, critics today generally agreeing that Chopin's masterpiece is her 1899 novel, The Awakening. Taking on Chopin's recurring theme of the conflict between the social constraints placed on women's shoulders and their desire for independence, the novel tells the story of Edna Pontellier, a Creole woman who gradually comes to realize expressing his dissatisfaction with his status as a wife and mother. Due to its controversial subject matter and sympathetic portrayal of its unique heroine, the novel has drawn hostile reviews from critics, who dismissed it as "cliché and dirty filthy" or even "vulgar" and "vulgar". While Chopin didn't completely give up on her writing career after The Awakening's critical reception, she was annoyed by criticism and her dwindling literary output. She died 5 years later from a brain hemorrhage.
