As a parent, I try to remind my daughters to remove their devices during mealtime. Honestly, there were a lot of questioning and frowning faces at the beginning but with constant reminder the girls managed to remove their "digital habit." I like to point out that this is not a perfect setup, as the talk emphasized there were a lot of points to improve on, and this included inconsistent monitoring. Some days when I'm not sharing a meal with them they still manage to squeeze in the habit, but I try to remind them again that regardless if I'm there or not, they should have the initiative to control it. Truly, MIL begins at home. We couldn't expect teachers to do it alone, but it should be a continuous collaboration between homes and the school. - Sarah Elizaga

During the pandemic, when children cannot get out, my mistake was letting the TV be my baby's constant company. It calms and silences her, so we allowed her to have TV time the whole day. Then my baby, now 3, acquired mild autism. Her PT suggested we minimize screen time. Which I did, right away.

It makes me feel guilty up to present, because I allowed that. And I am a teacher who supposedly should have known better.

Now at almost 4, she is already enrolled in regular school and is now able to mingle and play with children her age. She is happily coping, and is having lesser meltdowns.

We are divided into information tribes, which is one of my key takeaways. And it is true that if an issue does not align with our own sets of values or ideals, we easily criticize or cancel others.

We are also critical, but we are not thinking. Thus, the term critical idiocy. We have become merely headline/caption/meme readers. So frontline fact-checking should be focused or targeted. It should be more sophisticated now.

Similar to air, trust is vital to our existence and well-being, but we hardly ever recognize it until it's in limited supply.

Over at least the past ten years, there has been an alarming fall in faith in public and public-serving institutions, particularly the news media, in many different parts of the world.

The internet is one of the factors that has led to this situation. It promised to free us from the conventional people of the media and transform us into more informed, involved citizens by giving us access to a boundless ocean of data, news, and information.

Being an educator who seeks TRUTH in multimedia is the most objective thing I can do so that I can guide my learners in believing that media has much to offer if used properly and in a manner that seeks what is useful and not harmful to anyone.

What resonated to me the most is that we must have careful and thoughtful representations of the Indigenous Peoples.

As an educator, I need to teach students to recognize diverse perspectives, appreciate cultural differences, and engage in constructive dialogue with others, both online and offline.

As a media information literacy teacher, my ultimate goal is to enable students to think critically, behave responsibly online, and take an active role in society. I have to give kids the abilities and information needed to confidently and morally navigate the media-rich world of today.

All things taken into account, teaching media information literacy is a fulfilling way to positively influence young people and help them grow into responsible, aware, and involved citizens in a media environment that is changing rapidly.

It takes a combination of awareness, education, and technology protections to prevent internet scams.

We can significantly reduce risk of falling victim to an online fraud by being cautious, maintaining excellent online user, and learning about typical scams. Question:

Speaking of scams, recently, several Facebook Pages of State Universities, LGUs, School-based Orgs, and Parishes and other legit FB Pages, were hacked wherein malicious content such as videos are uploaded.

What happened was a admin’s FB Account was hacked and removed all the access of the legit admins.

1.) How to retrieve these pages? Some of them have no choice but to create new legit pages.

2.) Though, they only post malicious content, can this phenomenon employ a greater risk and will these attack indirectly or related to scam as well?

We are teaching senior high school students. A lot of my colleagues express their hesitancy in using AI because the prevailing idea is that it will compromise the student's ability to think for and on his/her own. While I understand our (our I say because I am still hesitant sometimes) hesitancy, I am now realizing that maybe, what we need as teachers is training on how AI can be beneficial inside our classrooms. We need to be equipped with practical strategies to incorporate AI without compromising any of the abilities and attitudes of the students that we need to develop among them.

There has been really a surge of students' AI generated outputs recently . I agree that we should regard it as more of a learning tool (assistance), than a foe. We just have to leverage on our guidance optimizing the students' critical thinking skills.
