    1950-1963: Designed by architect Gerrit Rietveld for the Institute of Applied Art (IvKNO).

    1967: Building completion and official opening.

    1968: The Institute was given the status of Academy for Fine Arts and Design, and its name was changed to Gerrit Rietveld Academie as a tribute to him.

    2002: The building was designated as a municipal monument. 

    2004: Renovation and new building, the Benthem Crouwel Building, was erected as part of the expansion of the Academie.

    2019: The FedLev building was taken into full use

    2020: CMP research, the final version of the CMP report completed on 25 November 2022.

    2024: Book publishing of CMP Volume 1: ‘Rietvelds Academiegebouw, Een levend monument voor eigentijds kunstonderwijs’ in March 2024.
