Our privacy has, and will always be encroached upon. I do however believe that the way it is occurring is nowhere near as detrimental as it could be. In the worst version of the world we would live in a single minded, single view society that completely disregards other beliefs besides the "right" one. However, we as people create this environment by choosing to be empathetic and hear other people out on their beliefs. If we lived in the single minded society then we would have a real privacy issue, because governing powers would be worried that we were finding new views on things. I believe in humans ability to have empathy in the face of other people differing views, as long as we as people make the choice to try and understand then we don't need to worry about privacy. These issues shouldn't be private because that will only cause more issues, communication is key people.

Our privacy is being taken but in mild amounts. As long as my identity isn't being taken or any personal information, it doesn't bother me. There isn't much you can do about your security other than creating very specific passwords and not sharing those passwords.

To a point I can see our privacy being 'encroached upon'. But I also think that it is just apart of being in a modern world. You use power like electricity? They have your information. You have a social media account? You're putting your information out there already. You have a phone period? Your data is being used for all kinds of things. Because of the tech-present world we live in, our data is everywhere and can be accessed by different people for all kind of reasons. Anyone at any time can google you and find out all kinds of things about you. Like Lori said, you can't really have true privacy unless you lived in the middle of nowhere with no power of any kind.

Privacy is important physically, but online everything is already encroached. Almost everything we do is being tracked no matter what we do. You do a google search about winnie the pooh. You get an ad about it the next day. On social Media, we already give up what we were doing that day. In that minute, in that second. So how are we going to be able to prevent it? I think that people have way less privacy than ever. I think that it is a big problem. Companies such as Google, and Facebook, most prominently have been taking data from people in order to advertise well, this is a huge breach of privacy for the average person. I think that companies should stop spying on people, same with the government.

Privacy is close to none here. Everyone is aware of big corporations taking data for personalized advertisements that vpn services have been put out to prevent said thing but the fact that we are never really in private because governments are unavailing us even if we use things like incognito mode or hidden search is still uncomfortable to know. I do believe our privacy is being encroached upon but there is a side to our privacy that also can’t be changed. I do care very much that our privacy being “violated/ encroached upon”. It very much makes people feel like the can’t do anything with out being tracked. But that’s also the truth of living in the modern world. If you don’t want all or anything in you have/talk about the you would have to live out in the middle of nowhere and live off the grid, and even if you do want contact with people the you would have to send letters and then wait for a response. But I dont think our society today have the patience of waiting. Like Brianna said every technology that we use EVERYTHING that we use tracks something. And can’t really do anything about that. I do understand the significance of tracking the people’s info, so that if there was talk of harm of a higher up person like the government or like harming of the citizens. I think that’s important for the government to track, but like lizzy said everything get tracked and even pulled back to you like talking about a certain thing and seeing later on your social media. Over all in the end I do think that our privacy is being encroached upon and that there is a lot of info that the government takes and uses for no good reason, there are a few like for safety of the people and government. The government really shouldn’t use that much of our data/ information. But they do and there isn’t a lot to do in today’s world. I do think that while it violates our rights as human beings. But realistically, does it matter if the government is watching what I am doing? As long as they aren't trying to take away my freedoms, I don't think it really matters, they are trying to protect us by looking for suspicious activities, I think they invade our privacy for our safety. There are a couple of things that can be done to secure our privacy, but I think we need to find a balance of where not too much is being spied upon, but enough to where we can become a safer society.

I think that our privacy is always being invaded and it has proven to be the case many times. An example of this is when Snowden exposed the NSA for recording phone calls and stuff. I also don´t think its that deep because if you´re not doing anything crazy illegal its not like it will matter all that much. I think that our privacy is encroached on through our cell phones. It can track what we do, for how long, and when we searched it. Your data can be used for experiments or studies. There are also settings that if you talk about certain things it can alert your provider that you have a plan to do something bad. I don't really care that they are doing this because I don't have illegal plans. I can see how other people can think differently because they don't want their data being put out there but every day you put yourself out in the world and other data can be collected on you without you knowing.

I do think our privacy is being invaded. Not by the government but by the phones in our pockets. They are constantly harvesting data to sell to either advertisers or the government. I do not care about my information being sold to advertisers as I am not easily persuaded into buying things and it keeps software cheap or free. The problem begins when the government buys our data. I feel like our privacy is definitely not being respected in many ways. Almost everything we do on our phones and on the internet is being tracked in one way or another, with our clicks, and the cookies that websites ask for. The youtube videos we watch and the things we look up lead to directed advertisements towards us. Our personal information can be sent out to different companies, and even our phone numbers are being put on lists for spam callers to call. Overall, there is someone looking over almost everything we do on electronics, and while there are ways to try and get away from it, it doesn't always work, and can get expensive.

We are always being watched. The dark web doesn't exist for no reason, and the government is more powerful than it seems. There's a lot of businesses that sell your information for money to third parties which is already imposing on privacy, one that really sticks out to me is the whole "Phones will listen to you" because it is strange that once you mention something like a vacuum cleaner, simply by "chance" it seems you get recommended an advertisement for one. I'm not sure how much truth it holds but it is obvious that our government, and businesses know more about us then we even realize. Knowing people's private information can lead to being scammed or blackmailed more easily, identity theft, etc. Or, even just constantly being accessible by people is encroaching upon privacy by setting the expectation that if you reach out to someone, they'll respond immediately, and makes them feel guilty when they aren't. We'd have to start being more careful with what we give out to do something about it. We'd have to quit signing up for everything (from newsletters to streaming service subscriptions) without looking at the terms and conditions and being careful. If there's evidence that companies are selling any personal information, we'd have to protest it until they change to a system that better protects and hides our information. On the smaller scale of personal time, we'd have to stop allowing employers to use our time when we aren't getting paid. We have to ignore when bosses or coworkers message us about work while we are off the clock (with necessary exceptions of literally life or death situations for emergency responders). We'd also have to be willing to accept that someone, even a close friend or family member, may not respond immediately to a text, and stop expecting them to or hold it against them if they don't. Even if we can see that they're on their phones, they shouldn't be obligated to respond to what you sent them.
