When I first found out about COVID-19, I didn’t really think much of it, and didn’t take precautions earlier like I should have. I thought that it wasn’t that serious, but I soon realized that it was affecting many people’s lives worldwide. When students found out that school would be cancelled, we were all so excited that we wouldn’t have to get dragged out of bed at 7 in the morning; it was unusual to not go to school every morning since it was so fixed in our daily routines. School has been super weird on Zoom; I never thought that I would be in a lecture from my bedroom. I never thought I would say this, but I actually miss school. More specifically, I miss seeing my friends everyday and the freedom to go outside without having to be scared of contracting a fatal virus.  Even though this situation isn’t ideal, I am trying to stay as positive as I can and make the best out of the quarantine. The first time I went outside to take a walk, I saw a few people walking with their children or taking their dogs for a walk. It was nice to see that families were together and taking advantage of this time to connect. Although most people in my neighborhood are social distancing, I see groups of 10 or more people hanging out with each other without masks. It made me frustrated because there are so many people following the rules and keeping their distance, while others are indifferent to the health guidelines. People just want to be together. My friend surprised me a few days ago when he showed up at my door unannounced. We hung out outside- six feet apart, of course! It was reassuring to know that I was now allowed to see my friends, and that there are less boundaries. This gives me hope that  the end might soon come, and that everyone can slowly go back to some sense of normalcy.The first thing I plan to do when more restrictions are lifted is to see my friends because I miss their company. I worked on it the day prior to her birthday and it took forever trying to make the poster look somewhat decent. I went through all my photos, printed them out, and plastered the photos all over the background. I also added stickers here and there. When I went to her house, I knocked on the door and then stepped back so we were at a distance. She was shocked because she thought that I was getting food. She was thrilled with my poster (even though I have no artistic ability whatsoever) and it was meaningful seeing her reaction. She pointed to so many of the pictures, and we reminisced about the different events in her life. I know it made her day, and it definitely was worth my time to see her so happy. My cousin shared some of her birthday cake and we got caught up. It sure was fantastic to be together. Doing special things like this for people we love is rewarding. A: Yes, I keep on listening to the news, and there is a lot of hope. Many countries are on the brink of having a corona virus vaccine, which is probably going to happen by the end of this year. One country that I know is coming up with a vaccine is Israel, they are very close to finding a vaccine. The United States also has many companies working to find a vaccine. Once we have vaccinations, we will most likely be immune to the virus, and we will hopefully not get sick. There are also medications that are helping patients who are already diagnosed with COVID 19 to get better.

Q: What would you tell yourself 2 weeks ago?
A: I would tell myself to be careful. I always used masks even though people said it wouldn't help. Now I know that the masks prevent people from spreading germs to other people, but I also don't want to contract the virus. Masks make me feel comfortable. 

Q: What was your first reaction to COVID-19?
A: My first reaction wasn't so strong, even though I knew it was a bad virus. Because it started far away in China, and then it spread to Italy, and in Europe, it was kind of threatening. It wasn't as scary since it was far away. Even though I knew it would eventually come here, it took time to process. A: Spending the day with my children at home and enjoying the simple things in life because I never get to do that. I'm always working full time, so this whole quarantine has been very special for me because I've actually had a chance to be at home with my children and spend time with them.

A: There hasn't been a lot of change for me personally between yesterday and today, but I know that this week I have some anxiety because we are reopening the country and I know that entails a certain degree of risk in terms of our exposure to COVID 19.
