         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Definition</strong></div><ul><li>Fine/straight hair: Tends to be very soft, shiny and oily. It can be difficult to hold a curl.</li><li>Medium hair: Has lots of volume and body.</li><li>Coarse straight hair: Normally extremely straight and difficult to curl.&nbsp;</li></ul><div><br></div><div><strong>Further information<br></strong>Straight hair is often more oily in condition than other hair types, because oil from the sebaceous glands can travel more easily along the hair shaft. <br>Straight hair has around 11 layers of cuticle scales. The more cuticle scales the hair has, the more resistant the hair will be to chemicals and styling.<br><br><strong>Impact on service/Influencing factors</strong></div><ol><li>Difficult to curl which may affect the style of the hair.</li><li>May be resistant to chemicals, such as colour and perming products.</li><li>When cutting the hair, straight hair can show cutting marks on the hair.</li></ol><div><br></div>]]></description>
