I like the color of the background as it's a pleasing shade of blue (a color I usually find pleasing) I'd encourage more color on the posts though in order to make them POP further out of the background. I'm flipping the pallet over to the "dark" mode to see how it looks. And I'm concerned with the far left area in which the content is muddled and posts cover up each other in a distracting and cluttered way. Plus, the color coding works well here too. The horizontal layout is okay, but I wonder if a different design would have worked more effectively. Using this layout, you should have a bit more space between each post so that your arrows can show more clearly.
