Impacted communities are the experts on our own experiences and thus should be the key decision makers when it comes to issues impacting us. In our work that most often means that we center the political visions, perspectives, and priorities of homeless people when working on policies, actions, campaigns etc that impact homeless people. Similarly we center the agency and decision making of people of color, people with disabilities, queer and trans people, women, and survivors. 

The political landscape changes rapidly, but the pursuit of justice and liberation is a lifelong commitment. We work deliberately to keep our eyes on our vision rather than constantly reacting, and we give ourselves space to take breaks, take care of ourselves and each other, and return to the work at our pace. This helps us sustain our energy for change for the long haul.

We believe that resources should be funneled into marginalized communities and that every person should be able to access housing, mental health care, drug treatment, healthcare, food, and other means to survive and to thrive. Policing, incarceration, and immigration detention are impediments to the survival and healing of marginalized people, and we work in alignment with the goals of abolition. 

We recognize that our liberation is bound up with the liberation of all people and stand in solidarity with other impacted communities. We resist attempts by those in power to turn us against each other in a fight for table scraps.
