The Assyrians had a lot of victories with their conquering empire. They conquered and killed almost everyone in their path, and those that they didn't kill, were enslaved and tortured. They ruled much of the known world in their time, including Mesopotamia, Syria, Egypt, Palestine, and Turkey. They also had kings who supported the ways of the empire and they collected taxes and tribute. The empire ruled harshly but found a lot of success in their ruling.

One of the main elements of the Assyrians that was the key to their success was their warfare. They ran a harsh and cruel military that conquered and killed everyone in their path. The technology and weapons that were used to do this include: iron tipped spears, long swords, battering rams and other siege devices, bows and arrows, and their troops wore helmets and leather skirts with metal plating. The tactics of this military were horses that the cavalry would ride on, they attacked rapidly and used a large number of archers in their battles, and they used battering rams or tunneling to overcome difficult walls.

The Assyrian Empire had a very unique culture. They had a polytheistic religion and took it very seriously through their many conquests. The rulers of Assyria were not kind and they punished rule breakers and the enslaved harshly. The Assyrians made plenty of enemies which backfires on them later in their existence. The culture of this empire contained mainly warfare that was cruel and done rapidly, in order to gain as many territories as possible.

Some major strengths of the Assyrian Empire were that they had a thriving and harsh military that conquered other countries, which was the main contributor to their expanding empire. They also had a strong religion that was kept and followed strictly. Though there were many strengths, there were also weaknesses. One major weakness was that they were a cruel empire who didn't treat their people or anyone very well. This major weakness backfired on the Assyrians and resulted in their decline. Another weakness that caused their decline was that they extended a little too far, which is a downside to have a large, successful military.

The main reason though, is that they made a lot of enemies because they were so cruel, and those enemies joined together and defeated the Assyrians.
