They ran a harsh and cruel military that conquered and killed everyone in their path. The technology and weapons that were used to do this include: iron tipped spears, long swords, battering rams and other siege devices, bows and arrows, and their troops wore helmets and leather skirts with metal plating. In around 1400 BC, the Assyrians regained their independence from Mittani and began conquering neighboring countries. During 850-650 BC, the Assyrians ruled and had conquered much of the known world of that time.
