         <title>realistic narrative </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>A realistic narrative draws power by basing the advert on a realistic event. In this type of advert you would expect to see something that could happen in real life something that you might do in your life. A lot of the time it can be based around family's .An example of an advert which does this is the Wii advert. This advert has an realistic narrative because we are watching a family using the Wii and having fun. They are not looking directly towards the camera. Its made to look as though they do not know there being filmed , its just an average day with the family. Natural lighting will probably have been used in this advert so that it looks even more like its just a family having fun and&nbsp; not staged for an advert.The majority of shots used in the ad are mid and long shots. Long shots have been used in this so that the audience are able to see all of the characters body's when they are doing the different activities. This way we are able to see exactly what they are doing and each movement&nbsp; of the characters. Mid shots have been used to show more than one characters emotion at a time or just one character.&nbsp; In this advert they have used fast paced editing as they cut from the people playing the game to the screen of the game so we can see what is going on and what they are playing. This will have been done so that the audience can feel as though they are in the room with the people playing the game. which will also help the ad have a realistic narrative. The only sound included in the advert is the sounds that come from the Wii and the people talking. There has been no sound effects added too the scene which would be unrealistic.&nbsp;<br>Another example of an advert with a realistic narrative is the McDonald's advert. This has a realistic narrative because we see scenes of things that could happen in normal lives like having swimming lessons, going to a museum and walking a dog. also because none of the characters are talking directly towards at the camera. The advert uses mainly long shots&nbsp; so we are always able to clearly see what the little boy is doing. a few mid shots have also been used to show the emotion of the little boy (.eg. when he is laughing.) a mid shot is also used when we see the happy meal being given to him. It looks as though natural lighting has been used in this advert.The editing in this advert is quite fast pace it cuts from scene to scene.each one being only around ten or fifteen seconds long . also some&nbsp; quite happy and joyful music has been added in the background of the ad.<br>These two examples are similar in the fact that they are both based around normal family life.Both the Wii and McDonald's advert are showing that the product is enjoyable and suitable for all the family. They also both have a very simple and easy to follow story line. The adverts do show realistic events as they both include things which a lot of family's might do together. The difference between the two adverts is that the Wii advert only includes one setting and has no background music. were as the McDonald's advert is set in a few different places and included some joyful background music. For this reason you could say that the Wii advert is more realistic because it doesn't have anything added to it&nbsp; like music.<br>An advantage of a realistic narrative is that the audience are able to see and believe that the product is good for themselves from the people in the adverts reaction to product. You dont have someone talking at you , trying to convince you the product is good and not giving you any proper evidence. A disadvantage of a realistic narrative is that people might feel as though they are not being given enough facts about the product. They dont really know much about it.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Overt messages are obvious messages  given in an advert. They are messages which are clearly displayed on screen to sell the product. Adverts with catchy taglines and slogans are usually the ones that people remember. An example of this is the kit kat advert.  This is because it gives us a clear message which is if  you need need a break you should eat a kit kat. They do this by using the slogan  "have a break , have a kit kat". The slogan is catchy which will make people remember it and want to  buy the product.  </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Some adverts will use something that causes fear or concern to help raise awareness of something and help convince you to donate to the charity or be more aware of things.An advantage of making an advert like this is that it will make more people donate. a disadvantage of this is that it could upset people too much. An example of an advert which uses this technique is the save the children advert.This is because it shows us clips of a really sick child that needs urgent help. It has a voice over that is giving us facts and reasons why the child's life is so terrible and why it is so important that you donate so the charity has the money to help them and make the child's life better. This advert is so upsetting that it might convince a fair few people to donate because they cant stand to see people in these situations. </div>]]></description>

         <title>Anti-realistic narrative</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>An anti-realistic narrative is able to have the freedom of including things which dont really exist in our normal lives .eg. vampires , zombies and aliens. usually in adverts like this you would expect the story line to be quite funny and maybe include something that wouldn't usually be able to talk . An example of an anti realistic advert is the three mobile network dancing pony advert. This advert has an anti-realistic narrative because it is not possible for a pony to dance. It is not something we would see in real life this is how we know that it is not realistic. There is also a scene were a seal looks up directly at the pony as it passes the seal. Which would not be possible to make the seal do. Artificial lighting could have been used in this advert as all of it is set outdoors. so the people making the add are not guaranteed good lighting throughout&nbsp; .eg. if it gets cloudy.&nbsp; long and close up shots are the main ones used. Long shots have been used so that we are able to see the pony dancing. close ups&nbsp; have been used on the hooves of the pony and sometimes its face.<br>Another example of an advert that has an anti-realistic narrative is the&nbsp; flash washing up liquid advert. This has an anti-realistic narrative because one of the main characters is a singing dog. This is something impossible to see in our normal lives. fast paced editing has been used in this advert as it cuts for scene to scene very quickly or to a different angle in the same scene. Artificial lighting has been used in this advert as you can tell the main focus is on the dog. some spotlights have also been used. once when the dog is next to the bath and the light is only on him and the bath but the rest of it is black. also near the end when the women is in the kitchen and catches the washing up liquid. A sound effect has been included when the women wipes the bath clean.<br>The three network dancing pony advert and the flash washing up liquid are similar to each other because they both include animals doing things that are not possible to do. They are also similar because they make you laugh because they are so stupidly brilliant and weird. Both adverts probably used artificial lighting as well. The difference between both the adds is that you dont really get much information from the three network advert. Its kind of hard to tell what there trying to say to us. Were as the flash washing up liquid advert is funny whilst giving us a few facts about what the product can do.<br>An advantage of an advert having an anti-realistic narrative is that it will stick in our heads. when we see the product we will think about trying it because the advert was so good it might make us think the product is as well. A disadvantage of an anti-realistic narrative is that the audience might get confused about what its meant to be selling or the reason there trying to get across to make you want to buy the product. Another disadvantage might be that people dont feel convinced about buying the product because they know little about it.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <title>Talking heads </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Talking heads most of the time is when different people speak on screen to the audience and try to convince the audience to buy the product. An example of a talking heads advert is webuyanycar.com. This is a talking heads advert because there is more than one person telling us why we should use there website to sell our car. It cuts from clip to clip of different people telling us how easy it was for them to sell there car and how trust worthy the website is. were getting a few facts from a few people. This could give the audience confidence in using this company because more than one person is saying its good. This advert uses mostly uses long shots. This is so that the audience are able to see both the people and the car. The editing used is quite fast paced as it does cut from scene to scene very fast! In this case it has been done so fast just so that they are able to get a lot of people in saying good things about the company and so that they can get as many facts in with out overwhelming the audience with facts. In the background of the ad music has been included to fit in with the pace of what the people are saying. almost even to turn it into a short song.<br>another example of talking heads is the California tourism advert. This is an example of talking heads because we see several people us trying to sell to us how much of a nice place California is and that we should come see for ourselves. The editing in this advert is medium/fast paced as they do cut from scene to scene but they dont go to fast, each scene is around seven to ten seconds long.I think that artificial lighting has been used in this advert as sometimes you can see that the sky is slightly cloudy and not all sunshine and blue sky but you dont really see any shadows on the peoples faces. which could be expected if there is some clouds. This suggests that artificial lighting could have been used as there are not any shadows on there faces.&nbsp;<br>The webuyanycar.com and California tourism are both similar because they give you quite a few facts using a few facts without overwhelming you with it all. also that they are both quite up beat music wise.The difference between the two adverts is that webuyanycar.com has tried to kind of make the advert into a king of song so we remember it easily and get it stuck in our heads. were as the California tourism one is more laid back. also the California one has used celebrity endorsement to convince us were as webuyanycar.com hasn't.<br>An advantage of talking heads is that it makes it more interesting for the audience and they are able to get more information across about what they are trying to sell. Rather then having someone talking at you constantly giving you fact after fact. A disadvantage of talking heads is that some people might find this way too confusing. like its changing from one person to another too much so they cant consume all the information properly.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <title>Stand alone and celebrity endorsement </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Stand alone is where you only have one person talking directly at the camera trying to sell you there product. In this kind of advert you expect to see a very well known celebrity. As this is one of the ways they are trying to sell the product to us .An example of this is the EE network advert with Kevin Bacon. This is an example because Kevin bacon is the only person speaking directly at the audience. he is walking down the road giving us facts and reasons why you should use EE and why it is so good.This advert is also uses celebrity endorsement because Kevin bacon is well known and Brittany spears is in it at the end. she does not speak directly to the camera or give us facts about the product which makes this advert stand alone because Kevin is the only one giving us the information. This advert uses : a medium long shot, mid shots and close ups. mid shots have been used when they only really want us to focus on what he is doing or saying.close ups have been used when looking at the phone so we can see exactly what he is doing when we see him talking about a song he is putting on.  medium long shots have been used when they want us to see him dancing. <br>Another example of stand alone is the Cheryl Cole L'Oreal advert. This is because there isn't anyone else with her or in different scenes talking directly to the camera.Through out the whole of the advert she is only speaking at the camera trying to convince us to buy the product. She is a well known singer this will be another way the company are trying to sell us the product because people who like her or know who she is will think if Cheryl Cole thinks its good it must be good. The majority of the shots in this advert are mid shots and close ups. Apart from two long shots. Mid shots and close ups have been used in this advert so that the audience are able to just focus on her hair. They want them to focus on her hair because it is a product for hair.<br>There isn't too much that is similar about these two adverts apart from the fact that they have some kind of music in the background. The difference between the two adverts is that the Kevin bacon one is set outdoors and there is stuff going on in the background. were as the Cheryl Cole one is set inside and there isn't anything going on in the background. Something else which makes the two adverts different is that Kevin is using songs to give us facts about EE. where as the Cheryl is just giving us facts and nothing else.<br>An advantage of stand alone is that we only need to focus on one person. which means taking in facts will be a lot easier. An advantage of celebrity endorsement is that this could convince people to buy it because they will think if the celebrity likes it then it must be good. a disadvantage of stand alone is that people could find the advert boring with only one person talking to us. A disadvantage of celebrity endorsement is that some people might not be sold on the product just because a celebrity is in it. They might believe that the celebrity's are just being paid to say the like it.</div>]]></description>

         <title>parody and dramatic </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>parodic adverts are ones which make fun of other narratives or themselves. There hard hitting adverts which usually intend to deliver a clear and strong message. They can sometimes be unrealistic and over the top. An example of this type of advert is the specsavers advert which was a parody to the lynx advert. The specsavers ad is a parodic advert because it has the exact same narrative as the lynx advert but with different actors and at different location but still on a jungle and beach. Also the fact that they are obliviously not trying to get you to buy body spray but instead to convince you to buy a pair of their glasses. This advert mainly uses close ups and long shots. Long shots have been used so that we can see the whole body of the girls running and the man which they are running towards. long shots have also been used to show us where it is set. Close ups have been used to show the disappointed look on the girls faces when they see that the man isn't  attractive and the mans disappointment when they all leave him. Dramatic music has been put in the background while we see the girls running. This is before we actually see the man that they are running towards.This has been done to create tension and  make it dramatic.It will make the audience curious about what they are running towards. <br>Another example of a parodic advert is the Tesco dancing pony advert. This is a parodic advert because it is the same apart from the bit at the end with the Tesco clubcard at the end. Long shots have been used so that we are able to see the pony dancing. close ups  have been used on the hooves of the pony and sometimes its face.Artificial lighting could have been used in this advert as all of it is set outdoors. so the people making the add are not guaranteed good lighting throughout  .eg. if it gets cloudy.  long and close up shots are the main ones used.<br>The specsavers and Tesco parody adverts are similar in the fact that they keep it extremely close to the advert they are copying.There isn't really any differences between the two parodic adverts.<br>An advantage of a parodic advert is that it is something you will remember as they are sometimes quite funny.A disadvantage of a parodic advert is that people might get confused about what your trying to sell. Another disadvantage is that the message to buy their product might not come across and might end up promoting the other product </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>This technique can be used to engage people who have the problem. This type of advert can sometimes just alert you on problems which you dont actually have. An example of an advert that uses this technique is the Cheryl Cole L'Oreal advert. Straight away when the ad begins we have Cheryl giving us three problems about hair and saying she has found the solution to the problem. This is already could be alerting people who have the problem or people who dont have it at all. It then goes into a voice over with someone telling us the facts of what this product can do for damaged hair while showing us the product and an image saying what types of hair to can help.  </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Adverts using this technique consider social position as they try to appeal to different social classes. For example this iceland advert will appeal to people of lower class because they show in the ad how good their prices. There are posters all around the shop saying £1 , £2 or £3. This will appeal to the lower class because they wont want to spend much money on their shopping but still be able to buy the all the food they need. Its easy to tell that it is aimed at the lower class as well because it doesn't look as though the budget on the advert was very high as the story line was very simple and it doesn't look that well made. <br>Another example of an advert which considers social class is this M&amp;S advert. It will appeal to people of upper class. This is because the prices in this shop are a lot higher than the ones in iceland It is somewhere you can only afford to food shop if you have a decent amount of money. You can also tell that it is aimed at upper class because the budget on this advert is clearly a lot higher. The quality of the advert is very good and the way it was dont was a more complex than the iceland one. There were also some foods in this adverts which iceland probably dont sell. The food from iceland were ready meals were as the M&amp;S one shows us freshly made looking food.</div>]]></description>

Also that they are in line with the principles of fair competition generally accepted. ASA take action by having adverts that do not meet their principles withdrawn or changed without having to wait for a complaint.An example of an advert that has been withdrawn is the anti bullying advert were the girl sewing her mouth shut. This will have been withdrawn because it was to graphic and alarming. A lot of people would have found it disturbing. it could be very upsetting to most people.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Idea 1: <br>Pros - It will be really easy to achieve the make up look because its really simple. This means that this wouldn't take up too much time when filming.<br>- I haven't seen any adverts similar to this one so it will stand out.<br><br>Cons -  During the scenes that  are outside the weather could effect the quality of the clip.<br>- People might not know what the advert is for till the end of the advert.<br><br>Idea 2:  <br>Pros-  The lighting will remain the same because it will all be filmed in the same setting and the its in the studio so there isn't any chance of the light suddenly changing and ruining the shot.<br>- The storyline is quite basic but still effective. This will meen its easy to follow for the audience. <br><br>Cons - It might take a while to film because the studio might not always be available to book out when i need to.<br>- Even though the main colour is black to make them think of monster it could give the wrong mood to the audience. It could come off as a really serious or sad.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I have read through the misleading code and i have found that there is nothing in my advert that would break this code.For example it says that adverts should not be materially mislead and that they must not mislead by hiding information or presenting it in an unclear manner.Also that adverts must not exaggerate the capability of performance of a product service. My advert has nothing in it that would exaggerate what it can do. for example it doesn't show anyone having super human energy and speed from drinking the product.&nbsp;<br>I also read through the harm and offence code and i couldn't find anything in the advert that would mean me breaking this code. For example it says that adverts must not condone or encourage harmful discriminatory behaviour or treatment. It also says that it should not condone or encourage violence, crime disorder or anti social behaviour. My advert does not break this code because all we see is the main character doing normal day to day activities. There is no form of violence included or nothing to be seen as racist. </div>]]></description>
