Nigeria is a country located in western part of the African continent, the capital is Abuja. It has a population of about 190.9 million people. There are several dialects throughout the country, but the three major languages are that are spoken Hausa, Igbo, and Yoruba. Education and business are conducted in English. Nigeria is rich in produce and natural resources such as crude oil. The healthcare system was introduced by the government many years ago during the colonial era, but there where so many different factors that affected the effectiveness of the system, such as traditional healers, finances, availability of providers, inadequate infrastructure and roads. But the system today is available despite all the challenges.

Poor allocation of the funds by the federal government by the health sector, as we know the NHIS is a policy component of the healthcare delivery system in Nigeria, inadequate physicians in the country, shortage of drugs, poor attitudes of health workers, dilapidated infrastructures, no facilities in the rural areas. The biggest of all challenges is having a centralized information system for healthcare centers. These challenges play a huge role in a healthcare system.
