It has a population of about 190.9 million people. There are several dialects throughout the country, but the three major languages are that are spoken Hausa, Igbo, and Yoruba. Education and business are conducted in English. Nigeria is rich in produce and natural resources such as crude oil. The healthcare system was introduced by the government many years ago during the colonial era, but there where so many different factors that affected the effectiveness of the system, such as traditional healers, finances, availability of providers, inadequate infrastructure and roads. Funding is not only by the NHIS but by other sources such as tax-based public sector healthcare financing, household out of pocket (OOP) Health Expenditure, private sector (Donor funding), and community-based health financing (CBHF). This is also done in other countries around the globe.
