Edward Thorndike-
To study if there was a line  between he associated learning in humans versus in animals, and how problems solving is approached by either side.

Procedure-
animal would be placed in a very small and uncomfortable cage with one way out

the animal would have to either push a lever or similar task to open the cage.

Results- The animals were ale to find out how to solve the problems set for them, which would be considered intelligent.

The time to escape was decreasing over time or trials
the cat's correct response was rewarded by the cat escaping the box and getting the fish left outside the box

Control- Rats made sick but not given saccharin

Rats given saccharin and get sick again and another rats would not be given saccharin but later the results will be given 3 days later

Results

the rats were given the drink and get sick but after they would not go back to the drink because they knew it would give them sickness

Ethical

can be seen as unethical and the rats got sick but nobody knows what the rats did after

relevance

if the animal eats food and it gets ill it will know not to eat that food again.


Watson and Raynor

Procedure

the baby was presented with items 
they struck behind Albert when he saw a white rat to see if his fear can be made 

Results

albert became terrified by the rat and those are the results that came together

unethical

was unethical because of severe distress and can lead to psychological damage and right after the experiment he still had a fear of fluffy things

Seligman

Procedure
To see the effect of controllable and uncontrollable shock in a trial and error process
-Took 24 dogs and divided into groups
-an escape group and a no escape group dog they were both shocked and they had the same intensity of the shock. the escape group could keep the shock or get rid of it in that sense.

Results
the groups were able to finish the deed instead of just giving up like the other dogs who couldn't finish.

Ethical

Unethical completely because the dogs were clinically depressed afterwards and were hurt in the long run.

Relevance
Child does poorly on a test the believes that they can never get it and etc.

Procedure
2 groups exposed to the model while there was one group that didnt get exposed. there was a mildly aggression arousal and then testing for imitation

results
57% from girls viewing women
36% from girls viewing men
Boys were more aggressive that girls

Ethical
Unethical because the kids were not told that the parents were faking it so they were effected in the longrun overall

relevance
