         <description><![CDATA[<div>THE RIVER BETWEEN. <br>In today's lesson,  I learnt more about Ngugi Wa Thiong's history.<br>He is a Kenyan author born in Limuru on 5th January1938 .He was baptised as James Ngugi . He studied in Alliance High School,  Makerere University in Kampala , Uganda. <br>In 1964 - Ngugi published his first book know   as Weep Not, Child  becoming the first novel in English to be published in East Africa. <br>In 1965 - Ngugi published his second book known as The River Between  .<br>In 1967 - Ngugi published a book known as The Grain of Wheat. I  this year , Ngugi stoppe  being a Christian and changed his from James Ngugi to Ngugi Wa Thiong'o when he started writing in his native language ( Gikuyu ) .Ngugi began teaching at the University Of Nairobi for ten years as a professor of English Literature. <br>In 1977 - Ngugi was arrested in Kamiti Maximmum Security prison after publishing a play known as ( Ngaahika Ndeenda ) ( I Will Marry When I Want ) which provoked the then Kenyan vice president- Daniel Arap  Moi .In his imprisonment,  Ngugi wrote a book in a tissue known as Devil On The Cross .<br>In 1978 -  Ngugi was released . His family was forced to live in exile ,he went to live in U.S and returned to Kenya after 22 years only after Daniel Arap Moi retired from his second and last term in 2002.<br>On 8th , Aug 2004  - Ngugi returned to Kenya as part of a month long tour in East Africa , on 11th , robbers broke into his high security apartment . The robbers assaulted Ngugi , sexually assaulted his wife and stole various items of value .<br>On 10th, November 2006 -while in San Francisco hotel ,Ngugi was harassed and ordered to leave by an employee. <br><br>References: <br>https://www. en.m.wikipedia.org <br> </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In today's lesson, I learnt new things and vocabularies as well , we talked more about the SDGs present in the book  ( The River Between) eg : zero hunger and equality.  <br>We identified and illustrated the global issues in the book eg : culture,  identity, community, beliefs and many other. <br>Some of the vocabularies that I learnt are : <br>Perspectives- this is the someone's view about something, or attitude towards something. <br>Adage - a proverb or short statement expressing a general truth .</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>IIn today's lesson,  I learnt new things and vocabularies such as: imagery <br>- imagery- this is the visually descriptive or figurative language,  especially in a literary work. <br>Examples of imagery are: personification, similes, metaphors, onomatopoeia, vivid description. <br>We also identified the characters present in the first three chapters .<br>The two ridges known as Kameno and Makuyu. The river between the ridges in known as Honia .<br><br>Kameno- A sacred grove had sprung out of the place where Gikuyu and Mumbi stood . Kameno threw up more heroes and leaders than any other ridge , eg :Mugo Wa Kibiro , great Gikuyu seer of old was born ,Kamiri - a witch who was overcome by the whites- was also born in Kameno. <br><br>Honia - A river found between the two ridges  ( Makuyu and Kameno) It was also known as the Cure which would bring back to life . It was the soul of the two ridges (Makuyu and Kameno) . It was a permanent river that never dried .<br><br>Kamau - He was the son of Kabony from Makuyu.He was tall,had a long neck and limbs which made him appear older compared to Kinuthia .<br><br>Kinuthia- he was shorter and had strong muscles, he lived with his uncle from Makuyu. <br><br>Waiyaki- he was the son of Chege . He was quite young with a well built athletic body .<br><br>Chege - a father of Waiyaki , he was a well known elder in Kameno.  He had one wife .</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Setting - this is the time , place or circumstances in which something eg : story is set .<br>Context- this is the surrounding,  environment,  background or setting that determine ,specify or clarify the meaning of an event .<br>The environment in chapter 3 is a plain ground as we are told that the community cut trees and cleared the dense forest for cultivation.  <br>The people were pastoralists as they owned many cattle ,sheep and goats. <br>Later, After Demi Na Marathi cultivated , he told his mother that he wanted to be born again .<br>It was very early in the morning when Waiyaki went to the back of the hut and let the Ray's fall on his neck .<br><br>References: <br>https://www.wikidiff.com </div>]]></description>
